For me, this tour was the first opportunity to see elephants up close. On arrival you are given traditional clothing and a briefing on the animals. At first, these large animals are intimidating, especially when you are asked to get closer to them, but after you have spent some time with the elephants, this will subside. The elephants always seem very relaxed and friendly and the young mahouts seemed to be well attuned to the animals. You go for a walk with the animals and also have the opportunity to wash them in the river or they bathe and relax while watching them in peace. My favorite part was watching the elephants eating and bathing from afar. Some of the forced photos and foot spa didn't sit so well with me. Overall, it was a very interesting experience for me and I can recommend a visit, especially if you have a desire to get up close and personal with elephants.
Me and my boyfriend do enjoy the tour, we had so much fun with the elephants and the tour guide speak well English and friendly
This time I brought my two-year-old and four-year-old children to participate. First, I introduced the precautions and simple knowledge, then fed sugar cane, washed the elephant's feet, and then walked a short distance to the river to help the elephant bathe. Not far away was the children's I can finish the walk by myself. The river water is very cold and it is very healing to be with the elephants. The staff will help take photos with me, which is very convenient. At the end, Thai fried rice noodles, fruits and bottled water will be provided. The journey takes about two hours, plus It is a half-hour drive from the city, which is very suitable for children to experience.
Safety: There are plenty of staff members in the park taking care of visitors. Location: It's super convenient to call a taxi to and from Cong Tucheng District (about 20 minutes)! Instructors: They provide explanations in English and are very dedicated. Experience: Very novel! Facilities: A bit basic, but that's part of the original charm!
This tour is highly recommended for elephant lovers, as you can observe them up close! The tour included a brief lecture about elephants, front toenail trimming, feeding, commemorative photos with the elephants, a walk to the river, and bathing them in the river. Most of the participants in my tour were Westerners, and I was the only Asian. Although I was alone, the staff took many photos of me with the elephants, which was a great help. The staff were all kind and spoke easy-to-understand English. There are small lockers (with keys) in the facility for valuables and luggage. Red shirts, pants with pockets, hats, and sandals are available for rent, so you don't need to bring them. Elephants may suddenly splash water, so it's a good idea to put your smartphone in a waterproof case. Insect repellent is essential, as you will be walking in the forest. For meals, I had Pad Thai (delicious but quite filling), coconut juice, and bottled mineral water. The river may seem dirty, but I recommend joining in and helping to bathe the elephants since it's a rare opportunity! There are simple showers at the facility, so you can take a shower on the way back if you are concerned. If you want to use the shower, you may want to bring a towel. For transportation, I used Grab to go to and from the city. Since the facility is outside the city, it was difficult to catch a car on the way back, and I waited about 15 minutes. The only downside was that there was no announcement about how to purchase the photos taken by the staff... But overall, it was a lot of fun and a wonderful memory of Chiang Mai!!
You can go round trip by boat for 800 baht (for 6 people). It's not far from the city, so you can catch a boat easily! The program was very informative, and they were considerate of the group and took great pictures, which was great. I took my parents with me, and they thought it wasn't that great before we went, but they really liked it because it was a unique experience. And the Pad Thai was delicious ㅋㅋㅋ Thank you, Tony for the guide!! + The photos they sell there are taken in portrait mode, so I recommend buying them!
It was a very meaningful day. There were about 10 participants, from Germany, China, Mexico, and Japan. We changed into elephant trainer clothes, learned about the elephant's ecology and language, and helped with feeding, foot care, and bathing. There are lockers with locks, so you can put your valuables in them. If you leave your smartphone with the elephant trainer, he will take lots of photos for you. I prepared a waterproof case because I was worried about it getting wet, but it was unnecessary. However, there is a risk of dropping it when bathing, so if you are worried, it is better to have a waterproof case. He took lots of photos on site and sold them for 400 baht. You can easily remove dirt with a cold shower and he will lend you a towel. You will also be given cold water. After changing clothes, you will be served pad thai and fruit. It was quite stamina-intensive, so it was delicious. We met and disbanded at the site, so I think it is better to secure transportation to and from there. I participated at the end of October, and I was not bitten by a mosquito.
This place is not far from the city. It is very convenient. There is no shuttle and you have to go there by yourself. The elephants are very cute and the staff treats the elephants very well. I recommend everyone to come here. It is much better than other far away places.
very good experience.only 30mins from.city. tour guide was engaging.2hours was just nice any longer it would have been too tiring. the experience was very fun for the kids and elderly as you get to walk with the elephants and bathe them. only downside was too many photo taking and waiting for guide to take photos with every single tourist. at the end,u can purchase the link to the photos.we didnt need to buy as we bought our own and you can see guide's face changed.nevertheless guide was engaging throughout it was a value for money experience.
The elephant camp has changing clothes, toilets with showers, and lunch included. The guides are also very attentive and patient, allowing us to spend a wonderful morning.
