What to expect
Take a breathtaking scenic flight over the Southern Alps into Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park, home to more than 3,000 glaciers, snow-capped peaks, and alpine lakes. On arrival at Mt Cook airstrip, check in at the Guiding Base to gear up with hiking equipment and receive a safety briefing from your experienced guide. Your helicopter transfer will then take you onto the Tasman Icefall. Strap on your crampons and set off to explore blue ice caves and crevasses — scenery only a limited number of visitors get to see up close each year. Round out the day with a second helicopter flight and scenic plane journey back to Queenstown — a full Aoraki/Mt Cook glacier experience, done in a single unforgettable day.

The scenic flight experience was fantastic! It not only cut down on travel time but also offered a unique perspective of New Zealand. Afterward, we took a helicopter to the glacier hiking spot. Our guide led us to some unique terrain and allowed plenty of time for photos. I'm so glad I participated in this activity!
Weather affects everything. Call the helicopter company one hour before takeoff to check weather and availability. The glacier walking experience is two hours, and the company provides socks, shoes, claws and cane. A certain level of physical fitness is required.
Very good travel experience. Although it is a little expensive, it must be worth the money. You can travel on glaciers and experience small planes and helicopters. You can board the plane in Queenstown and go back and forth on the same day. Very good arrangement
Lucky trip! A chance to sit next to the pilot, flying from Queenstown to Mt cook airport by a small flight took around an hour to observe the town and look close to the top of those glaciers. With good weather and a nice professional guide, we found two caves to explore!
