Kenting South Yong Diving Center - Snorkeling Experience

Super awesome! We saw so many fish and marine life, and were even lucky enough to spot a sea turtle. The time was flexible; after the instructor finished teaching and guided us on a tour, we were free to continue snorkeling on our own.

The instructor explained everything in detail and led the group carefully, making those who were new feel very secure.

Experience: Coach Sanwu might seem strict, but his instructions are spot-on. He patiently explained how to use the mask and snorkel, which helped my wife and son overcome their anxiety about breathing. I thought we wouldn't see anything after the typhoon, but the underwater scenery was still beautiful. We even had the good fortune to swim alongside a sea turtle, making the whole snorkeling trip a very enjoyable one.

They rent out everything you need, from aqua shoes to snorkeling gear and goggles, even if you don't have any equipment. They also take photos and let you download them all that evening. There are shower facilities available, so you can just bring a towel and finish your day comfortably. It was a great time being able to see the underwater ecosystem of Kenting, in addition to the equipment rental. If any Koreans see this, you can take a bus from the Kenting Police Station (fare is about ₩1,000) directly to the front, without having to rent a motorcycle. You should definitely try it. You absolutely have to go here.

If you're near Nanwan, do it here! The price performance is amazing. They lend you everything. Communication is possible in English and Chinese. The host is a cool guy but passionate. If you say it's your first time, they'll tell you how to do it. They also take a lot of pictures. I wondered if it was okay to enjoy it at this price. The facilities aren't that new, but they're sufficient! I don't usually write these kinds of reviews because it's annoying, but it was so good that I'm writing one. Thank you so much! We participated in the Houbihu snorkeling tour. After arriving at the vendor's meeting point, we changed into jellyfish suits, snorkeling gear, and reef shoes that fit us. Then, we drove about 5 minutes in a shared vehicle to the snorkeling area. The vendor's changing area was basic but functional, though two or three of the showerheads or doors in the changing rooms needed repair. We were thrilled to see clownfish not too far from the shore! Houbihu is a rocky area, and while we brought our own snorkeling gear, we didn't have reef shoes. The vendor's reef shoes were absolutely essential; otherwise, you could easily get scratched. The staff were all very nice, and the instructor was professional, splitting us into small groups of about 4-6 people. However, our group included someone who had never snorkeled before and couldn't swim, needing time to get used to the water. The instructor spent over 15 minutes (or even longer?) teaching the beginner. Later, the instructor told us to go ahead and get in the water first, as he felt bad making us wait. By the time we were ready to head back to shore, the instructor finally led the beginner into the water and took photos. We ended up getting out of the water first, but before we did, the instructor thoughtfully helped us take some group photos to remember the experience. However, we had hoped the instructor would have had the chance to dive down and take close-up photos of the clownfish and coral we saw that day, although we could always download fish photos previously taken by the vendor from their Facebook page later. For first-time snorkelers, having an instructor willing to spend time teaching is a huge plus, but for those who can already snorkel, waiting around can be quite boring. If experienced snorkelers go in first, they miss out on the benefit of being led and photographed by the instructor. We suggest dividing participants into groups of experienced and first-time snorkelers. This would make time management more efficient, and the instructor wouldn't feel pressured to rush teaching beginners while others wait. Beginners also wouldn't feel stressed learning with others waiting to get in the water. Because of this, we, who brought our own snorkeling gear, will likely scout other snorkeling areas first to confirm safety before deciding not to join a snorkeling tour in the future. If you have a rental car, it's convenient to bring your own snorkeling equipment without getting sunburned, and Kenting's famous snorkeling areas are generally not difficult to access. Of course, you must ensure you are comfortable in the water, have snorkeling experience, and prioritize safety. The benefits of joining a tour, such as having a guide, safety supervision, complete snorkeling equipment, and photo services, still make it a worthwhile experience for most people!

It was our kids' first time snorkeling, and the instructor was very patient, teaching each child individually. They were so excited to see a sea turtle on their very first snorkeling trip! 👍

Even with poor sea conditions after the typhoon, the instructor went above and beyond to capture the best visibility photos for us.

Such a great experience, lovely and passionate people running the tour and despite the language barrier they were very patient, attentive and friendly. The instructor initially pulls you around when you are attatched to a float to show you to the reef and make sure you can use your snorkling equipment correctly; then you are able to explore for yourself. So many beautiful fish, not invasive to the environment (marine protected area) and a highlight was seeing a turtle. They even take a few pictures for you and upload to their Facebook for you to download.

It was great! Both the instructor and the front desk staff were very friendly. Even someone who can't swim can see the underwater world. Thank you to the instructor for helping take the photos!
