The aquarium is within a 15-minute drive from Chitose Airport. Although the aquarium is not big, it has a lot of content. It takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to visit and experience it. It is quite suitable for planning the last attraction before taking the flight. After actually visiting with my family, I would even recommend that you can arrange a special visit. What seems to be very impressive is: 1. The underwater observation area where you can directly watch the appearance of the bottom of the Chitose River outdoors in the museum. Through the glass window, you can see the salmon returning for spawning. 2. The doctor fish (fish doctor) in the experience area will help you remove the dead skin on your hands (very gentle but itchy), and there is also a sturgeon touch pool. 3. The display shows the ecology of freshwater fish from all over the world, which is quite rich and special (different from the content of the ocean park and aquarium) There is a large free parking space on the side
You can see a lot of salmon and sturgeon. There are also frogs, and it is well decorated, so I recommend visiting for children's education purposes. The total viewing time is about an hour. Since it is cheaper than on-site reservations, you can go there by clock. It is not a huge aquarium, so it would be good to take a leisurely look at it and check out the market next to it. They sell local agricultural products, souvenirs, and specialties.
One of the highlights of the aquarium is the underwater viewing area, where you can see salmon swimming in their natural habitat. This is a truly amazing experience, and it gives you a real appreciation for the beauty and resilience of these creatures. Another great feature of the aquarium is the touch tank, where you can interact with salmon fry firsthand. This is a great opportunity for kids and adults alike to learn more about salmon and their biology.
This aquarium is well worth a visit, offering a great opportunity to learn more about the life cycle of salmon. The most impressive part is being able to directly observe the salmon migrating upstream in the Chitose River! Purchasing tickets through Klook allows for instant use (¥600) and is cheaper than buying them on-site (¥800). I recommend purchasing through Klook. The adjacent parking lot is large, and you can also see planes landing at New Chitose Airport, which is a nice bonus.
It's actually quite fun, a very novel freshwater fish aquarium that displays not only salmon but also other species like stingrays, chameleons, and carps. A recent activity also includes releasing salmon fry into the river for free. There is a rest stop nearby, selling many local agricultural products, including delicious sashimi, glutinous rice balls, king crab rice balls, a barbecue restaurant, and local farmers growing cheap and delicious strawberries. I highly recommend everyone to go there, as it is fun, educational and fun.
very good experience, get to see salmons and other species. and also wild salmon from the window that showing the river
I had some time before heading back to the airport, so I booked and visited. I learned a lot about salmon and river fish and was very satisfied! There were fish-catching and petting areas, so small children would probably enjoy it too. The large tanks were also very beautiful!
I placed an order when I arrived at the door. I showed the order screen to the ticket seller and clicked to enter. Convenient. The environment in the aquarium is very clean. The air conditioning is strong. It is a good place to go in summer. The glass of each fish tank is super clean and you can see clearly. It takes about an hour to walk around the museum and the tickets are not expensive.
It is close to Chitose Airport and next to the road rest stop. The aquarium itself mainly introduces salmon, and you can stay for about two hours. You can buy tickets with klook and exchange them directly at the ticket office to enter, which is very convenient.
absolutely amazing and unique aquarium. While it may be small in size compared to others, it makes up in the offerings. you can 'pet' salmon, get fish pedicures and there is even a large viewing area looking out into the chitose riverbed. Even got to release 2 baby salmon bred by the aquarium into the river at the very end. Worth every dollar spent.
