We initially thought that this tour would take us on a trail to famous and popular food stalls in Chennai, similar to the food walking tours in Singapore. To our horror, it was exactly the opposite. The guide simply walked up to random street food stalls at her own whim. They were very unhygienic, with bread put into dirty cardboard boxes and flies swarming everywhere. Our guide (who was a Uni student, intern at the company) also bought ice drinks for us which any novice traveller would know to avoid since it would have been made with tap water. It would have been better if she could have asked us whether we would like to try certain foods rather than rushing ahead to buy without our consent. In addition, we were only given confirmation of the tour on the morning of the day itself despite having emailed KLOOK the day before. Disappointingly, all KLOOK could give was their standard reply “the local operator will contact you by the end of today, please let us know if they do not contact you.” Furthermore, the tour operator had changed our tour time from 12pm to 2pm at the last minute. To add salt to the wound, we researched the tour company (Yo Tours) on google and found out that they give these tours for FREE. KLOOK had changed us $19+ per pax for a FREE TOUR. Absolutely disgusting and unethical behavior from KLOOK and the last time I will be using KLOOK services. Book at your own risk. Would give zero stars if I could but the minimum is 1 Star.
