Synopsis
After a life-changing event, Young-ju decides to leave everything behind and opens a small, quiet bookstore in a neighborhood called Hyunam-dong.
At first, the shop is empty and silent, but slowly, people begin to be drawn in by its uniquely calm and mysterious atmosphere. As Young-ju opens a tiny cafe within the bookstore and hires a barista, she starts to rediscover the spark in her own life. ✨
The bookstore soon becomes a haven for regulars, each carrying their own heavy burdens and hidden worries. Through their time at the Hyunam-dong Bookshop, they find a moment of peace and learn to embrace life in their own special ways.

Musical: Welcome to Hyunam-dong Bookshop, adapted from the novel of the same name by Korean author Hwang Bo-reum. In this bookstore, you see gentle connections between people and the process of accepting one's own imperfections, all at a calm pace. The five actors also sang wonderfully! 🎉 The staff helped set up a translation device at my seat, with options for Chinese or English, which was very convenient. So, I fully understood the content of the musical! 👍🏻 (Note: Filming and photography are strictly prohibited during the performance! All photos/videos were taken only after the actors announced it was okay during the curtain call 🎀) Viewing Date: 2026.08.01
It was a wonderful performance in a small theater, creating an immersive experience that made it hard to believe only five actors were on stage! Everyone's singing was superb, and the set beautifully recreated the world of Hyunam-dong Bookshop, which was truly moving. Although I booked tickets through Klook, the reservation hadn't gone through, so the ticket office issued them for me on the day of the show. The subtitle device's monitor kept turning off periodically, and I had to press the power button several times, but I was able to watch until the end. All the staff members were kind, making for a pleasant experience.
