MONOPOLY: HIDDEN Singapore - Katong-Joo Chiat

Arrived at The Eco Club for collection and showed the Chinese lady boss my Klook qr code but she told me she doesn’t know in an annoyed tone. She was pretty unfriendly but I eventually figured out that we should scan the QR code at the entrance. Entire activity was interesting exp except it was really hot. Bought 1 ticket for 2 of us means our Monopoly money was only 1 set, but it was more than sufficient and made sense to use just 1 phone for the activity. We bought 2 x dumplings (100M), 1 x iced americano (50M), 1 x VN drip coffee (150M). Paid for the tea with 10% discount from spin and win. Took a few detours since we were exploring the area so took almost 3hr for the entire route.

It was a very fun and enjoyable challenge worth to explore. Just like playing monopoly boardgame but you actually do the physical walking around Katong-Joo chiat using your phone & follow the instructions all via WhatsApp. You will get to know quite a lot of historical and culture knowledge of Katong. Along the way, there are HIDDEN gem perks send to you, just click on the links of any participating shops you like to visit, either to use the Chance card for discounted shop items, or use it the monopoly Cash in exchange for a free drink.

I enjoyed learning about the history of Joo Chiat, it’s not just about the buildings but the life and lives of people who go to places like the Red House to matchmake. To contrast the present, we are brought to an interesting silkscreen-printing micro shop inside Katong Plaza where we chatted with its artist-owner too. I like the concept of buying food using Monopoly money! That added a really fun element. I have decided to try other monopoly trails at other locations too after this.

It was a nice experience seeing & learning more about JooChiat/Katong culture & heritage. Kids & I had fun figuring out the answers to progress on in the Monopoly game via WhatsApp. However, clearer instructions could have been given for a start for players so as to prevent wasting time moving off to a wrong route. The Monopoly money can be used to redeem food/drink/items at various “shops” listed in the QR code given which users should take note at the start. 1 adult ticket entitles to 1 goodie bag given upon completion & 1 monopoly red packet (monopoly $ + chance card) given at the start, as a family it’s not necessary to purchase tickets for everyone. Overall, it was a good family bonding session.

Theres some confusion regarding the starting location. Overall i dont think the food is worth the ticket. The monopoly and experience itself would be 4 stars.

I really liked this game! It took us around Katong/Joo Chiat area and gave us quite a few historical tidbits that we didn't know before, even though we're locals. I think for foreigners, this will interest those who wish to learn more about Singapore's heritage and for locals, it's a very good use of the SG culture pass. In fact, like another comment has mentioned, just one ticket is enough for each couple/family playing, unless everyone wants to have their own monopoly money to spend and small gift at the end. That said, if anyone is expecting to redeem the dollar equivalent of the ticket price for food/items using the monopoly money, then they'll definitely be disappointed. This is a cultural exploration game first and foremost with some small goodies you can get on the side, not the other way round. But the good thing is that if you didn't redeem your monopoly money during the game, you can always still circle back to all the hidden gem stalls to to use it after the game.

Great fun! A novel, creative way to learn about the heritage of Joo Chiat. We enjoyed exploring the area, discovering new businesses, and trying out the f&b from partners. What a steal for all we got out of this adventure! We're already planning to come back for the HIDDEN Holland Village experience - definitely would recommend and return!

I really enjoyed it! it's set for 1.5 hours but we took around 3. Very informative about the area and some of the shops we stopped in. The riddles were fun, pushes you to really search the area/read the texts around you. I do wish they would let you know which shops are closed on the map cause a couple of the shops on the list were closed on Monday when we went. Overall i enjoyed it! definitely recommend the Iced Tea at Durman Food Hall :D

I love how it went overall but the weather is super hot to be walking around without any stops that are indoor, we hope that there are stops where we could spend the money while playing instead of just spending all at the last point (pros and cons I guess cuz we did enjoy having a cold drink in the end). It was fun overall, hopefully there's something new I can try next time!

Such a fun way to explore East Coast and Joo Chiat’s history! Took us a while to get the hang of the game (and the hints weren’t always helpful 😅), but we figured it out in the end. Great experience and even better family bonding time ❤️
