What to expect
This workshop explores Singapore’s coastal heritage through hands-on interaction with authentic marine artefacts and cultural stories from traditional shoreline communities. Participants learn how intertidal areas supported kampong life, like fishing, foraging, and salt-making, while examining tools, shells, coral fragments, and fishing equipment. Through rotation stations, they discover traditional techniques like kelong construction and hear stories from early coastal communities such as Pulau Ubin. Creative components like heritage mapping and art-making help participants visualise and internalise how coastal environments shaped local culture, making this an engaging and meaningful SG Culture Pass experience.
