What to expect
Join us for a 2-hour Batik Painting Workshop where participants will explore the traditional art of batik while reflecting on Singapore’s evolving visual landscape, from nostalgic kampung scenes to today’s modern cityscape
The session begins with an introduction to batik as a Southeast Asian heritage textile art and its place in contemporary design. Participants will sketch their own designs inspired by curated local motifs such as kampung houses, roosters, wooden jetties, orchids, Marina Bay Sands, and HDB flats. Guided through the creative process, they will paint their patterns using vibrant batik colours, creating a meaningful artwork that captures their personal interpretation of Singapore’s transformation over time
