Good to know
- The temperature difference between day and night is significant in the Northwest region. Even in summer, we recommend bringing a couple of thicker garments to add or remove layers as needed. It’s always better to be prepared. Also, please prepare sun protection products such as sunscreen and UV-protective eyewear.
- Qinghai Lake sits at an altitude of approximately 3200-3500 meters, with strong ultraviolet radiation. In addition, traveling itself can be tiring. Please prepare yourself mentally for a long journey while enjoying the beautiful scenery of western China. Qinghai has a high altitude, so please bring medications and oxygen tanks/bags to prevent altitude sickness.
- Essential items: raincoat or umbrella, sneakers, cold medicine, gastrointestinal medicine, insect repellent ointment, sunscreen, sun hat, sunglasses, etc.
- One of the characteristics of Qinghai is the abundance of Halal food and the scarcity of Han Chinese cuisine. Please be mentally prepared for this difference in food culture. Also, the flavor of food in most northern regions tends to be strong and spicy. However, we will do our best to coordinate with restaurants to meet the needs of different tourists. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed in Halal restaurants. Please respect local customs.
- The Northwest region is influenced by religion, and customs are different from ours. Please remember the tour guide's announcements regarding travel precautions during the tour. Respect local customs. Do not mention political issues related to ethnic minorities in any situation and cooperate with the tour guide.
- Photography is generally strictly prohibited inside temples. The consequences of taking photos secretly can be severe. Some places indicate that photography is allowed after payment. If needed, please follow local regulations. When photographing people, especially monks and women, be sure to obtain their permission before taking the picture to avoid unnecessary trouble. When taking photos outdoors, remember to be safe and pay attention to your physical condition. Please take good care of your photographic equipment to prevent loss.
- Travelers should prepare themselves physically and bring some commonly used essential medicines, such as cold medicine, antidiarrheal medicine, Rhodiola, aspirin, Bai Fu Ning, and Baoxin Pills, as well as Band-Aids and cooling oil.
- Local specialties: Cordyceps sinensis, deer antlers, musk, Tibetan wool, Huangyuan silverware, ornaments, Tibetan knives, carpets, etc.; Qinghai snacks: Xining mutton hotpot, roasted mutton, hand-grabbed mutton, lamb, yogurt, sweet fermented flour, fried dough twists, brewed leather, small flour pieces, Qing稞 wine, buttered tsampa, meat and dairy products such as cheese, sweet milk powder, and horse offal, etc.
- The city center is approximately 15 minutes by taxi from the train station and 40 minutes by taxi from the airport.
- During the Qinghai tour, there are shops in scenic spots, hotels, restaurants, and toilet stops along the way, offering a wide range of products from jewelry, jade, Hetian jade, gold and silver jewelry to local specialties. Please choose carefully and compare prices. Do not buy "three-no" products (no production date, no manufacturer name, and no license number). When purchasing goods, you should request a purchase invoice and relevant certificates. If you shop in these places, it is entirely your personal behavior and has nothing to do with the travel agency.
- Please consider carefully before choosing optional activities. Once you confirm your participation and pay, the tour guide will make a reservation. Once the expenses are incurred, the fees cannot be refunded if the tourist cancels.
- Our vehicles will drop off everyone at the city center after returning to Xining City. (During peak season, the time of return to Xining City cannot be guaranteed. If you need to catch a flight or train, please inform the tour guide in advance to make arrangements.)
- Xining City taxi starting price: 8 yuan/3 kilometers, 1.6 yuan/kilometer beyond 3 kilometers.
