Reviews

After completing a guided tour of Versailles, we left to find our way to Marie Antoinette’s estate and unexpectedly discovered that we would have to purchase additional tickets to pass through the garden and then additional tickets to catch the shuttle to the estate. It was a long walk from Versailles to the shuttle and getting up onto it was difficult for my 82 year old mum who has issues with her mobility. The Grand and Petit Trianon’s were beautifully decorated. However, with the long walk to the shuttle and then walking from the Grand to the Petit Trianon, my mum was no longer able to climb any stairs and had to remain downstairs while I took photos for her to see. We then rested for a while and had some lunch at Angelina’s. After another struggle to get onto the shuttle and then catching the shuttle back to Versailles, it was another long walk up and then down the hill to leave, and my mum was in a lot of pain by then. I wouldn’t recommend this tour for anyone with mobility issues

Guide

  • Wander through the Grand Trianon, Petit Trianon, and Marie-Antoinette's Estate for a historical escape
  • Discover the lavish rooms that served as a refuge for French royals
  • Explore the beautiful gardens and unwind away from the bustling main court

Commissioned by Louis XIV in 1670, the Grand Trianon was the ideal place to escape the pomp of court life – and a good hideaway for the king's affair with Madame de Montespan. Alongside the Trianon Palaces, Marie Antoinette's estate also acted as a private refuge. The Queen's Hamlet, a rustic garden-village modelled after the Hameau de Chantilly, even had it's own farm, dairy, and mill!

With this ticket, walk the halls of the Trianon Palaces and explore France's kings' opulent abodes and stroll around the hamlet and its gardens
