Reviews
We had an amazing time yesterday at the Hobbiton Movie Set and the glow worm caves. Even you have not watched the movie, as most of those who joined the tour, you'll still have a good time. Hobbiton is so beautiful. We had a good time with our driver Raymond from Auckland and Beyond Tours. He shared a lot of information about NZ. The tour was worth it.
What an amazing tour! Our guide Simon was very knowledgeable and funny, keeping us entertained during the long drive from Auckland to Hobbiton and Waitomo. The time in all attractions is good and not rushed, the stops are well paced so we can get food and go to the restrooms. The van is very comfortable and has WiFi, snacks and water. Thanks Simon and the rest of the team at Auckland & Beyond Tours!
1. The morning pickup was great. Nancy, the driver, was very lively and humorous, making the long drive very enjoyable. 2. The tour bus to the Lord of the Rings filming location plays an informative short video. The park also provides a QR code to download a multilingual tour guide, which is very clear and helpful. 3. The tour guide provided a detailed introduction and was very knowledgeable about the movie's content and filming details. You can enter and tour several hobbit houses, which are exquisitely decorated. Before you leave, you can enjoy a complimentary drink at the bar. Because one area of the park was under renovation (not a major inconvenience), we received a beautiful cup as compensation before leaving. 4. The Waitomo Caves tour guide first explains the stalactites and stalagmites, then takes everyone on a boat ride to see the glowworms emitting their green light, which is a spectacular sight! 5. Photography is not allowed inside the cave. When entering the park, staff will take a photo of you and create a composite image. If you want a souvenir, you can purchase the photo at the gift shop before you leave.
This small group day tour let my husband & I enjoyed a hassle free holiday. The tour guide/driver managed the travelling time which we can have enough time to enjoy breakfast & lunch. Hobbiton movie set & Waitomo Glowworm Cave are worth to visit. We really enjoyed the trip & took a lots of photos.
The driver was Raymond, and the best Korean-tailored bullet delivery driver👍 If I could speak English well, I think I would have enjoyed Hobbiton and the cave more while listening to the guide's explanation, but I had to go around as I pleased, so it was a little disappointing. The scenery was amazing, and I was satisfied with the pictures I took at every place I went, and the price was much cheaper than other packages, so it was the most satisfying trip. Honestly, I'm not sure if I would go again if I had the chance, but I think I wouldn't regret going at least once.
The habbiton and glow worms tour were amazing. It is a must tour when in Auckland. The tour guides were friendly as well.
Tour Guide: Andy is really friendly and made great arrangements! He also told us a lot of little stories on the way. Attractions: He took us to see dams along the way and even took us for ice cream at the end. The quality of the small group tour was excellent. Itinerary: The timing was perfect, and we had plenty of time to explore the sights and take photos. Group Size: 11-seater van, with 7 people in our group.
The tour is very friendly for the trip planning. Hobbiton and waitomo glowworm are packed to go in a one day tour can save much time. The tour guide is very friendly and nice, who is willing to help in any aspect and tried to provide suggestions to our trip on the other days. The hobbiton is very beautiful and stunning, however, it’s a rainy day when we visited. We experienced a rainy day in Hobbiton. The glowworm tour is short, including walkway and boat trip. The cave is spacious and the glowworm are not that much. It has a distance when seeing on the boat with a group of people.
Sights along the way: The natural terrain of New Zealand offers beautiful mountain and natural scenery on the way to Hobbiton and back. Tour guide: Very clear in leading the tour, with perfect timing. Group size: Just right, with comfortable seating.
This group departed from Auckland at 6am. It may not be the peak tourist season, there were only three of us, so it was considered a private tour. The tour bus has 10 seats (not including the driver and the co-driver), which is very spacious. The driver of this group, Raymond, was very friendly and briefly introduced the itinerary for today. Since it was still early, the journey took two and a half hours from Auckland Sky City Hotel, and we could catch up on sleep in the car. When we were about to visit Hobbiton, Raymond introduced the background of Hobbiton and led us to board the tour bus for a guided tour arranged by the park. The tour guide Emma was friendly and dedicated. She worked hard to introduce Hobbiton even when it was raining heavily. Due to the rain, we could not stay outdoors for too long, which was a pity. If you are a fan of the Hobbit movie, you will definitely be satisfied. At the end of the guided tour, there were free drinks to enjoy. In addition, the easter egg was that the park was undergoing maintenance and optimization projects, and each person who completed the guided tour was given a commemorative cup. Later we went to the Glowworm Cave. I had read about it online and it was worth a visit. Unfortunately, due to the rain, we couldn’t visit the entire cave by boat. What a pity.
