Reviews
The tour itself was nicely paced throughout the course of a full day. Spending the first half in the old medieval portion of Nuremberg you then have the second part of the tour focused on more recent WW2 events. While we had come for the more recent portion the first half was equally interesting. Our tour guide (Sabri) was very well informed, funny and kind - and even as a bit of a history buff I still felt like I learned loads. Transport throughout the day was seamlessly organized and simply something you don’t need to worry about. Bring snacks, refillable water bottles and your curiosity - you will leave more informed and also having got your steps in.
The tour guide is nice, I love his explanation of Germany’s history when we arrived some attractions.
I had originally booked a tour with RadiusTours through Klook for June 22nd, with a meeting time of 10:30 AM at the central train station office. This tour was quite unusual; it involved taking a train to Nuremberg. However, on the day of the tour, June 22nd, at 10:00 AM, upon arriving at the meeting point, I was suddenly informed that the tour had been canceled. I checked my email and saw that the cancellation notification was sent around 8:50 AM, stating that the train service had been canceled. This left me feeling very confused and puzzled. I immediately asked the Radius Tours office if there would be another tour in a few days. They said there was another tour departing on the 24th, two days later. When I asked how many people had signed up, they said 15, so I believed there was a good chance it would depart. The most convenient option for us was to decide that afternoon to join the tour on the 24th. If we hadn't been staying in Munich for a while, I don't think we would have been able to make it. To cut costs, they didn't take a direct train but instead used the cheapest type, which I'm not sure if it's called an RE train, requiring connections. We spent a lot of time traveling and connecting trains because the schedule kept changing, which seems to be a characteristic of German trains. We spent so much time on the train, and the departure time was too late, at 10:30 AM. By the time we arrived in Nuremberg city center, it was already afternoon, so we didn't have much time to explore the city center. Still, we managed to visit and take photos at the main attractions. The strangest thing was, I believe it was arranged by the travel agency, not the tour guide, because the guide himself had to walk a lot. The itinerary included spending an hour and a half going to a place he called a 'Valley.' Since I wanted to spend more time in the city center, my partner went with them to explore the 'valley,' only to find out it was really not worth the time. The 'valley' looked like a construction site with nothing to see, and it required a lot of time to take public buses to get there and several S-Bahn stops to get back to the train station. The time was very tight and it wasn't worth the effort, and we walked a lot. I suggest that everyone just explore Nuremberg city center. However, because so much time was spent on the train, we still didn't have much time to walk around Nuremberg. I really don't understand why, for the tour departing on the 24th, there were 19 of us in total. I don't know why the travel agency is so frugal and tries to maximize profits by not arranging a tour bus to take us to the Nuremberg attractions. We searched on Google Maps and found that taking a tour bus would be faster than the train, because the train connections take a long time. Taking the train was like taking a local train in Japan that stops at every station. Since it wasn't an ICE or express train, we spent a lot of time on connections. On the return journey, due to a canceled train service, the train we took took about three hours to get back to Munich Central Station. So, among the seven-day local tours I've taken, this tour had the worst transportation arrangements. And I feel that this travel agency, Radius, not providing a tour bus is not good. To save costs, they don't provide a tour bus and driver; they just arrange for you to take the train and buy tickets for you, and not even express ones. This really shows the travel agency cutting costs and making things difficult for us customers.
Our guide was knowledgeable and was explaining to us despite it was snowing. It is more of a walking tour which took around 4hrs plus. There was a lunch break in between and our guide recommended nice sausages.
The tour guide's explanations are very detailed, but they are all in English, which is very good for listening training. However, they always take us on trains, which are slow trains and take a long time.
The tour guide was professional and diligently explained the historical background to us. They also clearly indicated the train departure time, restroom locations, and other essential information. However, in terms of itinerary planning, the cost-performance ratio wasn't high. We met at the train station and rode the train to Nuremberg with the tour guide instead of taking a bus. If you're willing to do some research beforehand, I recommend taking the train yourself as it will save you time.
Transport was via train, not coach. Guide brought us to the place and we were given free time there.
Kevin is a good tour guide. There is quite a bit of walking to do, but the pace was ok. Kevin explained things in detail, was friendly and humorous, and gave us time to ask questions and check in with us. Overall an enjoyable trip seeing this quaint and historic city.
The group size wasn't too large, and our tour guide was very attentive. At each attraction, he provided detailed explanations, helping us gain knowledge and understand the local culture. Highly recommended.
had an amazing experience, Elisabeth the tour guide was brilliant. Highly recommended for all
