Departing from Osaka, Kyoto
Japan - Miyama Thatched Village
  • All-year plan: Starting mid-March, the originally withered grass turns lush green, and scattered mountain cherry blossoms and peach blossoms bloom around the village.
  • Winter exclusive: Stroll through the ancient thatched-roof village of Miyama and enjoy the enchanting winter lantern corridor night illumination.
  • Must-visit scenic spot: Ascend "Amanohashidate," one of Japan's three most scenic views, and gaze upon the natural wonder resembling a dragon soaring into the sky.
  • Maritime charm: Take an Ine Bay boat tour and experience the unique scenery of the funaya (boathouse) fishing village.
  • Multiple options: Choose to depart from Osaka/Kyoto (drop-off at the same location) for a relaxing one-day tour.

What to expect

【We have planned two routes for you based on the season】

Kyoto’s charm lies not only in its ancient temples, but also in its azure seas and the hidden depths of its mountains. This itinerary takes you across “Kyoto by the Sea” and “Kyoto by the Forest,” from the miraculous sandbar of Amanohashidate to the tranquil boathouses of Ine Bay, finally entering the time tunnel of Miyama.

  • Year-round Classic Plan (Beautiful in all seasons) Itinerary Highlights: A deep daytime tour of Miyama Thatched Village, experiencing the tranquility and greenery of “Japan’s original hometown,” and checking in at the red postbox and pastoral scenery.
  • Winter Limited Winter Lantern Corridor Plan (Limited Time) Itinerary Highlights: Adjust departure time to specifically reserve the evening in Miyama. As night falls, the ancient thatched houses, illuminated by soft lights and reflected in the white snow, are as dreamy as a fairy tale world. (Miss it and wait another year!)

Introduction to Three Major Scenic Highlights

  1. Amanohashidate | One of Japan's Three Scenic Views, like a flying dragon ascending to heaven
  • Observation Deck Experience: Take the cable car up to “View Land” and use the classic “matanozoki” (looking through your legs upside down) posture to overlook the 3.6-kilometer-long pine sandbar, which resembles a green dragon lying across the sea.
  • Monju Mountain Stroll: Visit Chion-ji Temple to draw a cute “fan fortune slip” and watch the magical “rotating bridge” open the way for boats.
  1. Ine Bay Sightseeing Boat | Enter Japan's Most Beautiful Waterfront Village
  • Boathouse Spectacle: Take a sightseeing boat to admire over 230 “funaya” (boathouses) built around the bay from the sea, experiencing the unique architectural charm of waterfront dwellers.
  • Feeding Experience: During the voyage, you can also enjoy the fun of feeding seagulls, watching them circle between the blue sea and sky.
  1. Miyama Thatched Village | A Fairytale Village like a Hidden Paradise
  • Secret Exploration: One of the three major gassho-zukuri villages, on par with Shirakawa-go. It preserves the most original Japanese scenery, where you can taste the rich “Miyama milk ice cream” and feel the tranquility of time among the Edo-period buildings.

Pick-up and Drop-off Location Restrictions: Passengers departing from Osaka can only be dropped off in Osaka, and passengers departing from Kyoto can only be dropped off in Kyoto. This itinerary does not provide pick-up and drop-off services at different locations. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Review for: Kyoto boarding and alighting

The day trip was truly unforgettable! We went to Amanohashidate and Ine Funaya to feed the seagulls, experiencing the beauty of nature. Afterward, we arrived at Miyama, and although the weather was freezing, the snow-covered scenery was absolutely enchanting. During the Miyama Snow Lantern Festival lighting, the lights were brilliant, as if we were in a dream, illuminating the cold winter. It's worth mentioning that Mr. Ba, a staff member, shared some very interesting snippets of Japanese life, giving me a deeper understanding of the culture here. His attentiveness and dedication made the whole trip even more enjoyable. Finally, seeing the snow was so wonderful, like a fairytale world. This trip not only allowed me to enjoy the beautiful scenery, but also brought back a wealth of memories, and I hope to have the opportunity to come again in the future!

Review for: Osaka alighting and boarding

This day trip exceeded all expectations! Special thanks to our guide, Mr. Takayama, whose dedication and responsibility allowed us to enjoy the beautiful scenery despite the harsh weather. It was snowing heavily that day, and Mr. Takayama was concerned about the boat schedule being affected. He specifically contacted the crew in advance to coordinate the time, ensuring we were able to board the Ine Bay sightseeing boat smoothly. He also accurately managed the time for the subsequent Amanohashidate and Miyama itineraries, allowing us to avoid the risk of roads being closed due to snow and arrive at each attraction on time. • Ine Boathouses: Feeding the seagulls and eagles in the snow was incredibly impressive. Although the weather was cold, the sight of the birds surrounding the boat was full of life. A friendly reminder: those who are afraid of birds should stay on the first floor; the birds on the second floor are very spectacular (and enthusiastic). • Amanohashidate: The snow scene, covered in silver, was as beautiful as a painting and completely worth the trip. • Miyama Thatched Village: The luckiest thing this time was catching the winter light-up, a limited-time beauty that took our breath away. The combination of a professional guide and stunning snow scenery made us feel warm inside, even in the cold weather. Highly recommended!

A fantastic trip! 1. Rode the chairlift to the mountaintop and took photos at Amanohashidate. The scenery was beautiful. Someone helped take photos and printed them out directly for 1500 yen per photo, but the time was a bit tight. 2. Took a boat ride in Ine to feed the seagulls. It was a bit scary at first, and eagles would come and snatch the food, but it was a lot of fun later on. Everyone was screaming and feeding the birds at the same time, and the 20 minutes passed quickly. 3. Miyama illumination, it was super cold with snow. It only happens five days a year, so we were very lucky. It was a pretty fun experience. You can take photos, but it was super, super cold. My hands almost froze because I didn't bring gloves. Our leader, Mr. Ba, did a great job leading the team. He shared some Japanese culture on the bus, as well as his observations and experiences as a foreigner living in Japan, which was very interesting. He also shared information about drugstores and some good Japanese products and restaurants that he recommended. Overall, it was a very enjoyable trip. Please tip him!

So lucky to have encountered a day with heavy snowfall, as beautiful as Hokkaido! Amanohashidate Amusement Park is truly super incredibly beautiful~~ I recommend taking the single-person chairlift, being suspended in the air with snowflakes fluttering around, and looking at the vast expanse of white in the distance, it's truly moving! Ine no Funaya (boat houses), although the tour was canceled due to heavy snow, it allowed us to get closer to the seagulls, which was a rare and special experience in itself! Special thanks to our guide, Xiao Sun, for still taking us to see the snow-covered boat houses~ This is a once-in-a-century beauty~~ The only regret is that we couldn't go to the Miyama illumination due to the blizzard closing the roads. Instead, we went to the Botanical Garden light cycles, with tickets paid for by Klook, which was very considerate. I really thank them for being so responsible and making our tour fun and relaxing~ Thank you very much ♪♪

I highly recommend this day tour. The scenery is beautiful, especially the My Son Sanctuary lighting, which is only held for a few days in January. I was lucky enough to participate ❤️. Special thanks to the tour guide, Hua Hua. He always reminds us to buckle our seatbelts for safety on the bus, which is very thoughtful. He manages the time very well, so the trip doesn't feel too rushed, and he also recommends some special local products. He sings on the bus, creating a happy atmosphere and adding color to the trip 🥰👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Also, his kind smile 😀. I also want to thank the driver, Mr. Li, for his excellent driving skills, which made us feel very relaxed when resting in the car. I hope to join Klook again next time and be led by Hua Hua 🙏🏻

Review for: Osaka alighting and boarding

Maybe this tour is too popular due to the annual light show at Miyama so there was at least 100 people on that day, so it was quite messy as you will need to ask between the few tour guides on whose list you’re on. The tour is quite hassle free, where you only need to be on time to meet up and gather after attractions. The schedule is quite tight so you have minimal time to sit down and eat, (if you’re late or too long at an attraction you will have to order take out and eat on the bus). Our luck wasnt as good because it didn’t snow at Miyama, hence there was no (minimal) snow or snow lanterns. Our tour guide is a Taiwanese lady (Jacky) living in Japan, would be entertaining if you understood Mandarin, less for foreigners that is not well versed in Mandarin. She does try to find information online to put on speaker for people to understand (👍🏻A for effort) The trip is worth the price and time, hopefully next year it will be snowing at the time of the event.

Review for: Kyoto boarding and alighting

Our trip on January 22nd encountered a massive cold wave. The tour guide was very kind and detailed, carefully taking care of each member in the heavy snow. They even prepared Salonpas for a member who unfortunately sprained their ankle for emergency treatment. After leaving Amanohashidate, we encountered another chartered car broken down on a mountain road, and they even helped push the car so our trip wouldn't be delayed too long. Although the road was closed due to the heavy snow and the boat didn't operate, and we didn't get to see the Miyama illumination, the company arranged an alternative special botanical garden light show at the Kyoto Botanical Garden, and we returned to Kyoto safely. I give it a hundred points! 💯

Tracy is awesome for being able to speak different languages. It would have been even more lovely if there was enough time for Amanohashidate so we could explore more. Thankfully, the rest of the spots had enough time.
