I chose this hotel based on the pictures of the ocean view. I paid for an ocean view junior suite. My first-floor room gave me a tiny sliver view of the ocean as the ocean was almost entirely blocked by tall trees and a stage from the luaus hosted right by my room. I asked about moving rooms, but based on my conversation with staff, it seemed likely I would be put in a space that would have the same problems. Very disappointing.

While the staff were always helpful there were several issues with the room. The door would not lock, like it should, when leaving the room 6 separate times during my visit. While maintenance was always able to fix the issue it was very inconvenient. There is a lot of humidity in Hawaii so quicker aging of the room is expected. There appeared to be some warping of areas of wall because of this. Mold has a higher risk of occurring in this humidity and definitely existed in multiple areas in the room. While it seems the dehumidifier in the room is helping maybe more could be done to combat it? There appeared to be several instance of painting over the mold. Also be aware of the $25/day parking fee which was not advertised when I booked the room.

Spacious room with 2 queen beds and twin sleeper sofa, large bathroom with soft linens and towels. Microwave and frig. Nice lobby. Nice views of beach from pool and tiki bar that has lunch and dinner bites and shave ice! Centrally located and close to airport. Pool/ beach towels are a nice perk, as well as luggage storage. Wish the room had a safe. Parking was $25 and resort fees were $29/ night but since we only stayed 2 nights, the stay was still cheaper than other options.

Fantastic

Solo stay

The breakfast was delicious. Everyone on staff is so helpful Cina, Serena, Josephine, Allison, and so many more. The gift shop was helpful. Plenty of towels for the pool. The Lu'au on Fridays was an excellent experience. The location to Wailua River and Beach access was perfect. Plenty of culture to experience from the landmarks and cultural sites on and near the resort. Big thanks to MamaHunes's Tiki bar, their supply of food and beverages throughout my stay was amazing. Five stars all around for the Hilton Garden Inn ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Decent property that needs some updates. The air filters in the room need to be replaced and cleaned. Dust was obvious. This hotel is dated and didnt live up to the standard other hilton garden inn properties have set. Staff did not clean the room on first day. Food at the tiki bar was so so. For the price I paid I probably could have stayed elsewhere. Expedia also had a deal for $100 less after my cancelation date.

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. I paid for a specific room type, but when I arrived, I was placed in a lower category room. The front desk initially insisted I was mistaken and made me feel like the error was mine. After spending time trying to sort it out, they finally admitted they had booked me into the wrong room. To make matters worse, the room I had actually paid for wasn’t even available until the following day, meaning I had to spend my first night in a room I never booked. Their solution was to offer a $50 credit, which didn’t come close to making up for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, the problems didn’t end there. Once I finally checked into my room, I discovered it was infested with cockroaches. Finding roaches in a hotel room is completely unacceptable and made me feel uncomfortable for the rest of my stay. To make matters worse, the photos of the property are very misleading. The hotel looks much newer, cleaner, and more upscale online than it does in person. Between being denied the room I paid for, the poor customer service, having to wait until the next day to receive the correct room, the cockroach infestation, and the deceptive photos, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. I would not stay here again and would not recommend this property to anyone.

This place was extremely dirty and unorganized. We arrived for check in, and had to wait over an hour because staff forgot to call housekeeping and see if our room was ready. Also, there’s cockroaches EVERYWHERE!!!!!! They even went into one of the suitcases. Super run down, NO direct access to beach.
