GreatSolo stay
The hotel was very recently acquired and renamed by Hilton. Some elements were not functioning, such as the room safe and the TV. I did find the combined washer/dryer useful. The staff was sparse but friendly, and the room comfortable.

Clean, great location, and super comfortable beds. But honestly, the staff were what stood out most.
Ray, JC, and the front desk team were excellent. Anytime I needed something, they handled it quickly, made it easy, and somehow made the whole place feel even better. They’re genuine, helpful, and just really good at their jobs.
I stay at a lot of hotels, and this was one of the best teams I’ve come across. Whatever they’re doing to train and build that staff culture, it’s working. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there, and it showed.
That kind of service really adds to a stay. Even if it’s not the main thing you think about when booking a hotel, you notice it when it’s this good. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend.

Loved the location and room setup. Will plan to be back and looking forward to the addition of a lobby bar and maybe other amenities. Staff handled the ongoing franchise transition very well despite check-in taking a bit longer than normal.

GreatSolo stay
After staying in The Margot, I’m now an aparthotel convert.
The practically fully equipped kitchen (incl. an all-in-one washer/dryer) is a huge plus, along with the spacious and well-maintained room, floor to ceiling windows with views, large bathroom, and onsite gym.
Additionally, the Margot is located in a highly walkable area within distance of San Diego Bay, Seaport Village, and ample restaurants and shopping.
The Margot’s staff is very attentive and engaging.
The only drawbacks: outdated furnishings in room, no modern, rainfall shower, and room/floors smell a bit rustic/musty.
The Margot appears to be undergoing some renovations so perhaps the room furnishings will be updated in the near future.

Below averageFor business
This place has seen better days. The towels and sheets are stained, there's no useable place to put your clothes away (it's a mobile rack by the door), the website shows desks in each room - there are no desks. I stayed here for a work event where many other colleagues stayed too...we all had the same, disappointing experience. I was there for 4 nights and after the first two days with no cleaning service, I had to ask for it for the third day, and told it was policy to have to schedule it (even though some other rooms were cleaned). This might be ok for a budget stay, but honestly it was a lunchbag letdown.

Decent location, helpful staff, a bit of a hole in the wall. Seems to be old studio apartments turned hotel.
