My mom, aunt and I had a great trip. Even though we were not able to visit some sites due to COVID-19 restrictions, we were still able to understand a bit of Russian culture through the sharing from our friendly guide Elena. It was my first time trying Russian food and I found it really delicious, especially Borscht soup, Kompot, Kvass and Russian dumplings. Special thanks to Florence from SingExpress Travel for making this trip possible. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to learn more about the Russian community and their culture in Singapore.
This tour is led by a Elena, a very experienced Russian tour guide who has lived in Singapore for several years. She is knowledgeable and engaging and recounts stories with gusto and passion. Due to the ongoing pandemic, we were not able to visit some attractions. But the tour was still very enjoyable— learnt a lot about russian history, culture and food. Highlights of the tour included a visit to a russian speciality grocery shop in tanjong katong and an authentic russian restaurant in tanjong pagar.
i must say i was pleasantly surprised by the insights and information shared by thr guide Patrick. He is knowledgeable and passionate about Singapore history and it shows in how he conducted the tour. enjoyed the food and drink that came with the tour. only downer was that they said there was going to be kaya toast to accompany the nanyang coffee we had but there was none :( Apart from that, i had fun and learned new things about our history.
Highly informative and engaging tour, it's like an inside info storytelling session, except these are real.
It doesn't feel like 3h
Think you know the origins of our Bak Kut Teh & Singapore breakfast?
Come listen to Patrick's version & decide the perspective you want to take.
Highly recommended! Gonna check out Patrick's other tours on Perspective, subsidiary of 8th wave.
I really like that 30% of the tour fees goes to beneficiaries that goes to supporting people who need a little support from the more fortunate ones in Singapore.
The tour guide Elena is knowledgeable, fun and interesting, she has made this trip worthwhile though there wasn't many Russian highlights in Singapore, the trip was very pleasant, at least we know there is a Russian Cultural Centre/Language school and a small supermarket around, the last not the least, to know there is a Russian eatery just opposite my office block, though the food is not that appetizing, the desert is superb for the sweet tooth die hard definitely not for the normal tongue....but after all, the whole afternoon is memorable
Glad to have joined this one day tour on 8 May 2021. The itinerary was well planned and the timing for each session was just nice.
Thank you Singapore for the voucher and special thanks to Mr Roger Koh, Mr Tony Goh and the Driver uncle from Siam Express Pte Ltd for making this trip safe, fun and enjoyable!!
