Escape the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur and head over the the calmer and quieter hamlet town of Kuala Selangor. Your day starts with a visit to Kota Melawati, also known as Fort Altingsburg, built to defend the city against invasions all the way back in the 18th century. If you are lucky, catch a glimpse of the rare silvered leaf monkeys. The highlight of the trip is a boat trip along the banks of Kampung Kuantan where you can watch a stunning fireflies show and reward yourself with a delicious seafood dinner on board the boat.
Our driver Edward was very friendly. He told us a bit about Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Malaysia. At the fort you can feed silver leaf monkeys. Dinner was delicious. At the fireflies, make sure you bring insect repellent but if you forget you can buy it there as well. We also got to see the temple. It was a great experience overall.
The trip timing and organization were perfect! We had some things to see before fireflies, saw monkeys, hindu temple and had dinner with a river view. So we got everything promised in the tour description and even more. Our tour guide and driver Edward was great! He told us many things about Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur and so on. He is very friendly and knowledgeable. All in all we recommend this experience if you want to see fireflies in Kuala Selangor.
It’s indeed a lifetime experience for us and our children to see the twinkling fireflies among the mangrove trees. Apart from the beauty of nature, the tour guide of Klook, James, was wonderful and devoted in briefing us with interesting historical background not just about Kuala Selangor, but also about the political dilemma and cultural intricacies of Malaysia. He was also professional in preparing and alerting members of our group along the journey. We highly recommended this Klook tour.
Nice experience. Not too much activities during the trip - stop at Fort with monkeys, dinner, cruise on a boat. Fort is rather boring, but the monkeys are great! So nice and polite, not like the ones you can meet in Thailand. Dinner is good with lots of meals variations - fried rice, chicken, fish, vegetables, prawns and crabs. We arrived to the fireflies point early, so were the first to go on the boat. About 20 minutes on the boat is enough to enjoy fireflies sparklink. Tour guide Peter was wery friendly. Road to Kuala Selangor is quite long, but you can enjoy the view of palm plantations around
This tour is so much more than what you think. Initially, I thought it was just fireflies tour with a meal. However our great tour guide, Zul, took us to a hilled area in Kuala Selangor where we got a free tractor cart ride up to feed friendly and funny monkeys. Here there were great views, and great experiences. After we went to our seafood dinner by the river where we saw a beautiful sunset, and yummy food! They provide a set menu meal, overlooking the river. It's only a short drive from dinner to the fireflies location. Along the way our guide gave us useful information about where we were and some background history. Annoyingly, it started storming quite bad as soon as we finished dinner, so we had to wait an hour or so till we could see the fireflies however it was well worth it! The employees there were very hospitable and provided everyone with umbrellas when we got in the boats. It was very peaceful, only 5 to each paddle boat including the paddler man. I will never forget this amazing experience of seeing thousands of fireflies light up the sides of the rivers. I even got to hold one!
Zul took us all the way back to our hotel in a very timely manner, thank you very much for everything!
Marvelous view, a once-in-a-lifetime experience! We're lucky to see monkeys and fireflies after rain, and it's stunning to see thousands of fireflies along the river bank. The driver was very nice to chat with us and help us to know local culture. The white Hindu temple with delicate stone carving and sculptures he took us in the last stop was worth to visit, very peaceful and beautiful.
