Enjoy a day out in the open seas - and at the Outer Great Barrier Reef no less with a day cruise that departs from Airlie Beach or Hamilton Island. Hop aboard a high-speed catamaran that will dock at a pontoon stationed at the heart of the barrier reef. Depending on the package you choose, you can take an introductory dive class, go on guided snorkeling tours, or if you're already a licensed diver, dive on your own and enjoy the stunning marine life around the Hardy Reef Pontoon. If you're not up for any of those activities, you can simply book the cruise and you're still set to have a fantastic day out. The cruise comes with delicious onboard buffet lunch, morning and afternoon tea, a complete snorkeling set for you to explore the oceans without a guide, access to a semi-submersible, and underwater viewing chamber, plus a fun presentation by reef experts about how to continue preserving and caring for the world-famous Great Barrier Reef. It's a fantastic way to get up close and personal with the wildlife in the Great Barrier Reef, while learning about the environment at the same time!
Spend an unforgettable day out in the open seas with these rafting tours that take you to Whitehaven Beach for a day well spent. Choose between two tours depending on your preferences. If you'd like to spend more time snorkeling and admiring the corals of the Outer Great Barrier Reef, then you should take the Northern Explore Tour. The Northern Explore Tour is easily a favorite amongst avid snorkelers because it is the only Whitsunday adventure that includes two different snorkeling destinations in the itinerary! Discover the underwater beauty of Hook Island including Mantaray Bay, Maureens Cove and other specially selected Whitsundays snorkelling spots, and have an experience you'll never forget! The tour will also take you on a guided National Park walk to Hill Inlet, where you can take in fantastic views of Whitehaven Beach. If you want to spend more time lounging on the beach, choose the Southern Lights Tour, the only tour that visits both ends of the world-famous Whitehaven Beach. At the southern end of the beach, enjoy almost 2 hours of relaxation on the beach, where you can get a tan, take a dip in the ocean, build sandcastles, and more! When you visit the northern end, enjoy a guided bushwalk to the spectacular Hill Inlet Lookout. You'll also get to enjoy some snorkeling time at Border Island, Dumbbell Island or one of the 'secret' snorkeling spots. Whichever you prefer, both tours are exciting and fantastic ways to discover Whitehaven Beach!
Let your jaw drop at the out-of-this-world view of the Great Barrier Reef from the sky on this scenic flight experience from Airlie Beach! The Great Barrier Reef is the largest living thing on the planet; in fact, it's even visible from the outer space. On this scenic flight experience over the natural marvel, you don't have to be a scuba diver, or even know how to swim, to explore and experience six of the ocean's most incredible living coral reefs! See the 2,300km long ecosystem comprised of thousands of reefs and hundreds of islands on board a small plane. Admire the beautiful colors, and spot the green of Dent, Long, and Hamilton islands, if you can. Later in the day, take a Sea Sprint Cruise to Whitehaven Beach, go on a guided walk, try stand up paddle boarding, snorkeling, and more. If you want to experience the Great Barrier Reef from above and below, then this experience is for you!
Spend a night sleeping in a swag (a sleeping bedroll or mini tent) in the middle of the world famous Great Barrier Reef - an overnight adventure you'll never forget! Head to the meet up location and hop aboard a high-speed catamaran to a pontoon moored on the stunning Hardy Reef, conveniently located on the Outer Great Barrier Reef. During the day, get to enjoy all the amazing activities you can do on the pontoon like snorkeling, diving and getting a massage onboard (at extra cost), and more! Once the sun starts to set, enjoy the tranquility of the ocean while sipping your sundowner as the sun sets across the horizon. Make sure to watch out for turtles who normally surface in the area at dusk around the pontoon. As soon as night comes, enjoy a delicious dinner then spend the rest of your night holed up in a cozy swag as you watch the stars. On the second day, make sure to wake up early to enjoy the rest of the morning to yourself on the pontoon. Choose to go diving again, snorkel some more or just lounge on the sun deck. Before you leave, indulge in a delicious buffet lunch - the perfect way to end your two day adventure out on the open seas.
This was an amazing day of ocean rafting with snorkelling in two fantasic locations and then Whitehaven beach. Since our boat was small enough, it could get right up to the shore line of Hill inlet at the Northern end of Whitehave beach near Champagne Bay. This spot is a must visit and the most iconic location of all the Whitsundays. I loved everything about this day and the crew made it especially great with a fun loving attitude to their job. I would definitely do this again.
Ocean Rafting by skipper Ivan & his son Luke (deckhand) was great. They answered all our questions & even managed to take us to a specific spot on the roof as I mentioned the reef looked a bit bleached, so they took us to another spot where it was more colourful & plenty of fish. Highly recommended!
Recommended for a day trip out to the Great Barrier Reef: a must for a visit to the Queensland coast. For me a day trip is just perfect so that there’s enough time to spend relaxing on the cruise but also with some fun time at the pontoon on the reef. A one-way cruise trip is about 3 hours from Airlie Beach (with a stop over Hamilton Island) and the view along the way is amazing. Reef activities were great to begin with (the free ones) including a ride on the semi-submersible for reef viewing (with a guide) and snorkelling. There were also other added activities at cost including snorkelling, diving, helicopter flights over reefs, available for purchase on the cruise. NB that around 2 hours out to sea cellular reception is generally lost for the rest of the day until the cruise comes back close to shore. Lunch is included and was sufficient.
What an adventure! Dani and Kane were super funny and friendly. Made a stormy day shinny. First and ever experience on a rafting speed boat with heavy rain hitting the face, but dani offered everyone a rain jacket that was very sweet. Even though the weather on the boat was super cold and horrible, they still made us smile and laugh none stop! Sunny at the beach and snorkel sites, with absolutely stunning views. Wish we could have more time on the north beach. This is not just a day trip, also a rafting experience!
We booked the southern lights tour and did have a really great tour with OceanRafting! The tour itself is well-organized and the crews are professional and hospitable. Visiting the Whitehaven Beach is a must at Airlie (ridiculously beautiful), and I recommend you to join the OceanRafting tour to make your trip much more fun!
The team were very friendly and professional. Loved the semi-sub and underground chamber to view the animals without having to get wet. We did the scuba dive and snorkel, and got to meet Maggie the friendly Maori wrasse, and she absolutely made everyone's day. Would highly recommend this experience!
