The Mousetrap Ticket in London

Seven strangers become stranded by a snowstorm in a remote country guesthouse, only to discover that a murderer may be hiding among them. When a police sergeant arrives on skis with an urgent warning, paranoia spreads as long-buried secrets and unreliable alibis come to light. Agatha Christie's ingenious whodunnit builds a tense, atmospheric puzzle that keeps audiences guessing until its now-legendary twist, a secret theatregoers have famously kept for over seven decades. Staged at St Martin's Theatre, this classic slice of British mystery theatre suits fans of a good puzzle from around age 7+, and remains a must for anyone wanting a genuine piece of London theatre history.

First performed in London in 1952 and based on Christie's earlier radio play Three Blind Mice, The Mousetrap moved to St Martin's Theatre in March 1974, where it has run continuously ever since, becoming the longest continuously running show of any kind, anywhere in the world. Its original West End cast featured Richard Attenborough and Sheila Sim, and its now-70-plus-year run passed the extraordinary milestone of 30,000 performances in March 2025. Fittingly, Agatha Christie gifted the rights to her grandson Mathew Prichard as a childhood birthday present, a gesture that would go on to prove immensely valuable. Reviewers have long praised the play's shuddering atmosphere of suspense as unmatched among stage mysteries.
