According to Wikipedia, the types of "identity" can be roughly divided into: denial, drifting, searching, defending and firmness. One's identity is defined as the totality of one's self-construction in which the way one interprets oneself in the present expresses the continuum between how one interprets oneself as in the past and how one aspires to be of what one's future self will be; And the concept of sociology refers to the expression of a person's self-identity and the shared concepts (including nationality, culture, writing, land, blood relationship, etc.) with a certain group.
Land is the most fundamental platform of our life. It bears all the resources of our life and is the ultimate bearer of all interests in life. The flow and circulation of interests must be balanced on a piece of land, and the people living on this land will form a stable social group, and will also form a "community of interests", that is, the country, the nation, our group consciousness. This kind of group consciousness is part of identity, but as the basis of identity, "interests" will self-generate, and people's basic attitude towards interests is competition.
Living on a land that bears all the facts, there are all intangible and tangible entities and symbols: national subjects, cultural traditions, people and society, economy and interests, etc. We physically accept the protection given to the people in the country, including consciousness Form, cultural policy, writing and language, urban planning and construction, financial system, land policy and social welfare, etc.; in an irresistible environment, facing the impetus of individuals, nations, countries and even the world, we, only Can try to stand firm and hug while rafting.
However, as a small individual, we have absolute consciousness and the freedom of spirit and creation. Under the protection or confinement of transcending entities, we plant flowers that can bloom in barren land; we breathe and grow air in the cracks like weeds. , dedicated to making the landless grow flowers.
Artists, are playing this function, they give us examples of imagination. Under the unshakable system of state power, land planning, and cultural education, as an independent living individual, but actually "landless" in real life, we take advantage of the artist's imagination to construct an invisible spiritual land: Regret Land policy, maintenance of the writing system built on the foundation of the language, efforts to learn how to become independent from the world despite the loss of ethnic ties and social effectiveness, how to find one's own existence in the drifting urban movement.
The exhibition features five artists from Hong Kong, Macau, Shenzhen and Beijing, including Liang Luoxi (Hong Kong), Zhang Shuhao (Shenzhen), Cai Guojie (Taiwan), Wang Xun (Beijing) and Wang Shunyu (Hong Kong). The exhibition will be on view from March to April 30, 2023.
