Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. As soon as you book, they contact you quickly, and they also send a reminder the day before. The tour guide was very enthusiastic and professional, using a GoPro to take many photos and videos for us. During breaks, they also used a camera to capture moments, and the quality was excellent! Highly recommended.

The beach was beautiful, and the itinerary was well-paced. The driver was waiting for us at the harbor, guided us to the snorkeling spot, and managed the time perfectly, getting us back to the harbor by 5 PM. The driver enthusiastically took photos for us and even purchased tickets in advance, making for a very hassle-free trip.

What to know about Nusa Penida

Nusa Penida in Bali, also known as Penida Island, is a hidden gem just a short boat ride southeast of mainland Bali. Known for its towering cliffs, absolutely stunning beaches with soft white sand, and rich marine life, this island is a must-visit if you’re planning on visiting Bali. Whether you’re after adventure, relaxation, or breathtaking scenery, Nusa Penida delivers it all. From beach hopping on the southwest coast to spotting giant manta rays in Manta Bay, a trip here can be as laid-back or as adventurous as you want. Many travelers choose a day trip with a private tour and private car, while others spend a few days exploring at their own pace with help from Google Maps.

Nusa Penida Must-Visit Attractions

Kelingking Beach

Kelingking Beach is the island's most stunning viewpoint, often called the T-Rex because of its rock formation. From the top, you'll see waves crashing against the cliffs and a hidden stretch of sand far below. The hike down is steep and challenging, but reaching the bottom rewards you with soft sand and turquoise water.

Broken Beach (Pasih Uug)

Located on the southwest coast, Broken Beach is one of Nusa Penida's most photographed spots. The natural archway forms a circular cove where the ocean flows in, creating an absolutely stunning sight. Surrounded by rugged cliffs, it's a peaceful escape away from the busier tourist hotspots.

Angel's Billabong

Right next to Broken Beach, Angel's Billabong is a natural pool that looks like a crystal-clear infinity pool. At low tide, visitors can swim in its calm waters while enjoying views of the ocean. Be cautious - when the tide comes in, the waves can be powerful.

Crystal Bay

Crystal Bay is famous for its calm waters and excellent visibility, making it one of the best spots for snorkeling. Here you might spot sea turtles, colorful coral reefs, and even giant manta rays if you're lucky. It's also one of the best places on the island to watch the sunset while relaxing on sun loungers.

Tembeling Beach & Natural Pool

On the north coast, Tembeling is a true hidden gem. A lush jungle trail leads you down to a natural pool perfect for cooling off, followed by a short walk to a secluded beach. With very few visitors, it's a great spot to spend a few hours away from the crowds.

Diamond Beach

Diamond Beach is one of Nusa Penida's most beautiful beaches, framed by sharp cliffs and white sand. The stairs carved into the rock make access possible, and the views from the top are incredible - perfect for photography.

Thousand Islands Viewpoint

For sweeping views of Nusa Penida's stunning beaches and smaller islands dotting the sea, head to Thousand Islands Viewpoint. The lookout is especially beautiful at sunrise, when the sky lights up over the turquoise waters.

Gamat Bay

Gamat Bay is a highlight for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts. Known for its crystal-clear waters and rich marine life, it offers some of the best underwater visibility on the island. Here you can swim among healthy coral reefs, spot sea turtles, and encounter schools of tropical fish. Gamat Bay is less crowded than other spots, making it perfect if you're seeking both adventure and tranquility.

Things to do in Nusa Penida Island

Beach Hopping

With so many stunning beaches, beach hopping is one of the best ways to experience Nusa Penida. A private tour with a private car is the easiest way to cover multiple beaches in a day trip, though renting a scooter gives you the freedom to explore on your own.

Snorkeling and Scuba Diving

Nusa Penida is world-famous for diving. At Manta Bay, you can swim alongside giant manta rays, while Crystal Bay and Manta Point are known for their vibrant reefs. Many local operators offer trips where you can also see sea turtles and a dazzling array of tropical fish.

Swimming and Relaxing

While some beaches have strong currents, places like Crystal Bay, Atuh Beach, and Diamond Beach are great for a swim. For something more luxurious, Nusa Penida also has several beach clubs where you can relax with cocktails, enjoy the views, and unwind on sun loungers.

Exploring by Scooter or Car

Adventurous travelers often rent scooters to navigate the island, but roads can be bumpy. For comfort and convenience, hiring a private car with a driver is the best option - especially if you want to see as much as possible in just a few hours.

Tips for Visiting Nusa Penida

  • Getting there: Take a boat ride from Sanur or Padang Bai in Bali. Fast boats usually take 30--45 minutes.

  • Tours: If you want to see all the highlights in one day, book a private tour that includes transport and a guide.

  • Navigation: DownloadGoogle Maps in advance, as mobile coverage can be patchy.

  • Safety: Be cautious at cliffside viewpoints and natural pools, tides and waves can change quickly.

  • Best time to visit: The dry season (April--October) offers the calmest seas and best snorkeling conditions.
