    Take a break from those Netflix K-Dramas…

    Just like everybody else, K-Dramas have taken over our quarantine lives. But after maybe 6 shows, and over a hundred hours of binge watching, maybe it’s time to take a quick break… and switch to Thai Dramas. 
    Mind you, Thai Dramas are just as good as the Korean dramas out there! Though the Thai film and television scene is best known for its horror films, we can confirm that their rom-coms are hilariously entertaining and fill your stomach up with butterflies. If you’re not fully convinced, we’ve collated some of the best and most iconic Thai romantic movies out there below. Watch the trailer and decide for yourself!

    1. First Love (Crazy Little Thing Called Love)

    Kicking things off with a crowd favorite - First Love, or Crazy Thing Called Love, is a film you’re most likely to be familiar with. Starring the charming Mario Maurer (OG oppa, let’s be real), who has starred in a Filipino film alongside Erich Gonzales, this romantic comedy will surely get you kilig. 
    The film depicts first love through the eyes of Nam, a young school girl who has fallen for the most popular boy in school. The sweet story of puppy love will have viewers reflecting back on their own story, making this coming-of-age tale a relatable one for many. 

    2. Bangkok Traffic Love Story

    This one’s for all the bachelorettes out there! Bangkok Traffic (Love) Story follows the story of Mei Li, a 30-something year old woman who is finding it difficult to find love. However, things take an interesting turn when she meets a Bangkok Transit System employee name Lung and or the first time in her life she is determined to go after her dream guy. But when her neighbor takes interest in Lung as well, Mei Li’s lack of experience affects her plans to woo Lung.

    3. Friend Zone

    For instant kilig and good vibes, Friend Zone is a recent Thai Romantic Comedy that got us hooked from the very start! The film follows the story of Palm and Gink, best friends of ten years. However, Palm has always had feelings for Gink but as the title suggests, he has been placed in the friend zone. However after many years, countless boyfriends and girlfriends, will the two finally realize what’s in front of them?

    4. I FINE… THANK YOU… LOVE YOU

    A classic Thai romcom following the life of Pleng, a beautiful English tutor. One day a student of hers asks for help breaking up with her Thai boyfriend, Gym, so she could work in America. Gym then places the blame on Pleng and demands her to teach him english so he could go to the US to get her back. While she helps Gym’s love life - she is also dealing with her own.

    5. Pee Mak

    Pee Mak blends horror, comedy and romance all in one movie, so this is the perfect flick for any viewer! The film follows Mak, who leaves his pregnant wife, Nak, to join the war. When the war is over, he invites his new friends to meet his wife, however his friends find out that Nak passed away giving birth to their child. Apart from finding out the truth, they must figure out a way to let Mak know that he is living with a ghost.

    6. Hello Stranger

    Set in Seoul, South Korea, Hello Stranger will surely appeal to all K-Drama fans out there! This iconic Thai romantic comedy tells the story of two strangers (a cynic and a hopeless romantic) who coincidentally meet in Seoul and decide to tour together without revealing their names. To amp up the kilig-factor, the film does a deep dive into popular K-drama film locations too - like from Coffee Prince and Winter Sonata. 

    7. Love of Siam

    Love of Siam is layered with stories of love and relationships, beginning with the close friendship of two young boys, Tong and Mew. Though they part ways as they grow older, the two meet each other once again in the midst of Mew’s successful music career and pick up from where they left of. Though the two are attached, the relationship and chemistry between them is undeniable. Meanwhile, Tong meets June, a young woman with an uncanny resemblance to his sister who had mysteriously disappeared years back. He then asks her to pose as his sister in order to help his father to get out of his depression.

    8. The Letter

    The Letter is a remake of the popular South Korean film, Pyeon Ji which focuses on a long distance relationship between Dew, a young computer programmer and Ton, who begin their relationship after meeting in Chiang Mai. However, one day, tragedy strikes when Dew’s best friend is murdered by a blind date Dew was supposed to accompany her friend in. She then leaves for Chiang Mai to find happiness and comfort with Ton, but tragedy might just be following her trail.

    9. Brother of the Year

    Covering both romantic love and family love, Brother of the Year is a hilarious flick that’s perfect for the entire family. It follows Chad, who has always envied his younger sister - who is perfect in everyone’s eyes, and seems to always do better than him whether its it’s in academics, sports, and even physical attractiveness. But one area he can show off as an older brother is when guys hit on Jane. When he finds out that Jane is secretly dating Moji, Chad uses this situation to his advantage. 

    10. One Day

    Denchai, a 30-year-old IT employee, is an outcast. So when his company arranges for a company-wide trip to Hokkaido, he decides to finally use this opportunity to talk to Nui, a woman from Marketing he’s fallen for. He makes a wish under a legendary landmark that’s said to bring love, and an ironic twist of fate diagnoses Nui with a rare temporary loss disorder which only lasts for a day. Thinking this is fate,Denchai uses this situation to his advantage and pretends to be her boyfriend as they travel around Hokkaido. But what’ll happen when the 24 hours are up?
