As the world's largest and most well-preserved ancient architectural complex, its layout, three-dimensional effect, and formal grandeur are unparalleled. It has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. Within the Forbidden City, some palaces also house comprehensive historical art galleries, painting galleries, specialized ceramics galleries, stationery galleries, and exhibitions of Qing dynasty court artifacts.
