Tainan Art Museum | A Cultural Landmark Blending History and Modern Aesthetics
Located in the core cultural area of Tainan, the "Tainan Art Museum" consists of Building 1 and Building 2, an art palace that combines historical architecture and contemporary design. Building 1 was originally the Tainan Police Department, completed in 1931. It adopts the Art Déco style and is one of the few well-preserved Japanese-era buildings. Building 2 was designed by the Pritzker Architecture Prize-winning Shigeru Ban Architects. The exterior inspiration comes from the city flower, the phoenix flower, showcasing Tainan's urban landscape of blending old and new.
The museum has a total of 26 exhibition rooms, a children's art center, an interdisciplinary performance hall, a light dining area, and a souvenir shop. The exhibition content covers important local and international contemporary art and plans rich educational activities and family-friendly facilities. It is an excellent place to explore Tainan's art and culture in depth.
