What to expect
Initially, the Wulai Trolley was used for transporting timber. Due to the development of tourism at Wulai Waterfall and the increasing demand from visitors, passenger transport officially began in 1963. Tourists were initially pushed by manpower. To accommodate the growing number of tourists, it was motorized in 1974, using diesel engines to power the trolleys. In 1987, a tunnel was excavated at the Waterfall Station, overcoming numerous difficulties, to replace the original turntable, and it has been in use ever since. The operating route runs from Wulai Station to Waterfall Station, a total length of about 1.6 kilometers. It operates daily from 8:00 to 17:00, with adjustments to the operating hours during the peak summer season to serve passengers as needed. When visiting Wulai Old Street, the trolley is a popular attraction for adults and children alike.
