What to expect
Phantom Island is located between Kohama Island and Taketomi Island, and it takes about 40 minutes by boat from Ishigaki Island. Phantom Island (official name: Hamajima)** is a mysterious island whose shape changes depending on the height of the tide. It is shaped like a moon, or sometimes a half-moon. The sea around the island is gently shallow, so you can appreciate the beautiful contrast of sea colors, with shallow areas being cobalt blue and deep areas being dark navy blue.
