What to expect

Nozawa Onsen Snow Resort: Double the Fun with Skiing and Hot Springs

Nozawa Onsen Snow Resort, located in Nagano Prefecture, is one of Japan's most popular winter resorts. The ski area stretches from the summit of Mt. Kenashi (elevation 1,649m) all the way to the entrance of the onsen village, boasting 46 diverse trails – from forest trails perfect for beginners to thrilling mogul runs. The most popular is the Yamabiko powder snow area, which is not artificially groomed, offering a smooth experience with pristine snow quality.

After enjoying the slopes, step into the authentic onsen village at the foot of the mountain and experience the traditional Japanese atmosphere. The village has 13 free public bathhouses maintained by locals, and the streets are filled with a unique sulfurous aroma. For a more comfortable experience, you can also choose paid onsen facilities such as Furusato no Yu or Sparena, which offers mixed-gender bathing.

After dark, the lively onsen street is just as exciting: unique izakayas, authentic restaurants, local craft beer bars, and small karaoke and clubs allow you to experience a unique nightlife in addition to skiing.

Transportation From the Hokuriku Shinkansen “Iiyama Station,” take the Nozawa Onsen bus for about 25 minutes to arrive directly.

After a full day of classes, some participants are exhausted, while others are still eager for more.
