What to expect
The Freedom Premium Whale Watching Experience has a leisurely start, departing at 9.30am. We motor quickly to Platypus Bay, off K'gari (Fraser Island), the center of the world-renowned Whale Heritage Area. Hundreds of magnificent and graceful humpback whales stay in this area to rest and play—a short holiday on their arduous migration back to the feeding grounds in Antarctica. Playful juveniles arrive in July, followed by groups of adults in August, and the mother humpbacks with their newborns arrive in September through to October.
Including morning and afternoon tea and a fabulous lunch, this cruise is great value. The hydrophone and underwater camera add extra dimensions to your experience. We aim to return to the marina no earlier than 3.30pm—later if we are surrounded by whales!

- Arrive at the boat by 9.10am ready for boarding
- Courtesy bus pickups are from between 8.30am and 9.05am
- If you are self-driving, free all-day parking is available in the Great Sandy Straits Marina car park and surrounding streets. Allow sufficient time.

- Wear layered clothes and a showerproof jacket and flat shoes - no heels or bare feet - sunhat and sunscreen recommended
