1 Dress in Layers and Stay Warm Hokkaido’s winter can be extremely cold, with temperatures often dropping well below freezing. Dress in layers to stay warm and comfortable. Start with thermal underwear, add insulating layers like fleece or down, and finish with a waterproof and windproof outer layer. Don’t forget a good pair of gloves, a hat, and warm socks.
2 Explore Onsens (Hot Springs) After a day on the slopes, nothing beats relaxing in a traditional Japanese onsen. Hokkaido has many natural hot springs, such as the famous ones in Niseko and Noboribetsu. These hot springs offer a perfect way to unwind and soak in the serene surroundings.

Don’t miss trying the local specialties like miso ramen, seafood donburi (rice bowls), and jingisukan (grilled mutton).
