Great
The staff at the reception was pleasant and helpful. Food is served with cleanliness and was delicious and fresh. Though the hotel is in the middle of a crowded place, it is in between a residential area as well. Wi-fi signals were good.

Stayed four nights in January 2017. Arrived late and they stayed open to accommodate us. There was a little miscommunication in the length of the booking, so they upgraded us to a larger room after the second day. The owner was having a party the night we arrived, and everyone was very welcoming and happy to see us. Bed was comfortable and large and washroom had a closed off shower with modern fixtures and hair dryer. Each floor had a large bright common dining area with new furniture. Room service was prompt and food was the best we had at a hotel in India. My wife was feeling unwell so the front desk set up medicine and checked in with us to make sure she was alright and that we had everything we needed.

Good
We used Tatvam as a starting point to our India trip. The room itself was fine though we had trouble getting hot water. There is a nice good sized common area with small kitchen which was nice. Hotel is about a 20 minute ride from downtown which makes it quieter. Food we ordered was very good. Try the Bengal Thali...Excellent! Pool was unusable. Full of mosquitos unfortunately. Staff was nice. Decent bookstore across the street.

Fantastic
The staff is helpful and looks professional. The room is clean and big enough for 3 people. A/C is good. The extra bed is a bit wobble but not dangerous. The pool looks dirty with dust floating in it, I assume not many people used it. The Wi-Fi speed feels similar to Airtel's edge, with more stability. When we came back to the hotel at night, the building was beautifully decorated with blue Christmas light.

Good
Well, the staff was quite kind and responsive to requests. BUT, to my horror, my first day in the hotel I encountered outdoor-type BUGS everywhere! There were mosquitoes (and aggressive ones!), as well as a critical mass of some unnamed small yet winged bug all over the walls, floors -- and most horribly -- all in the bed! I will concede after alerting the staff to the problem, they acted swiftly to spray the room, which alleviated the issue for a day or two. But unfortunately, I was there long enough for the bugs to slowly start returning. Also, housekeeping liked to leave your windows open when cleaning the room so a fresh batch of mosquitoes could fully infiltrate the room after I spent half the previous night killing the previous batch. When they bite it was especially piercing and painful! The mosquito tentacles in Kolkata seems more potent than elsewhere. Also, the bed was a lil hard for my taste. And you had to wait 20 minutes for hot water to warm up before you could shower. But if you can handle the above, then everything else was okay. I'm sure there's much worse places to stay in Kolkata... you can believe that.
