Fantastic

Stayed with kids

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Queens Hotel. The property is beautiful, with its traditional colonial architecture and a prime location overlooking the lake and the Temple of the Tooth. The two-bedroom family suite was ideal for our family, offering plenty of space and convenient access to the surrounding shops, restaurants, and main streets. Each room was equipped with air conditioning, which was greatly appreciated in the heat and humidity, and complimentary bottled water was replenished daily. The laundry service was excellent—both efficient and remarkably fast. What truly stood out, however, was the exceptional level of service from the staff. They consistently went above and beyond, whether delivering extra water, showing our daughter how to make an elephant from the towels, or arranging for a pair of trousers to be professionally cleaned after an accidental stain. The facilities were also excellent. The pool and bar area provided a relaxing atmosphere, and the restaurant served a range of delicious meals throughout our stay. The only minor drawbacks were the low shower water pressure, which made washing long hair somewhat challenging, and the noticeable noise from traffic and crows during the night. Light sleepers may wish to bring earplugs. Overall, we would highly recommend the Queens Hotel. Its combination of character, location, facilities, and outstanding service made for a memorable stay, and we would gladly return in the future.

Solo stay

This is more than hundred years old hotel and that is one of the reason I like this place. The hotel is well maintained. Old polished floors and wall fittings are still there. Yet my room had a nice modern bathroom. Everyone who made my stay comfortable were kind, friendly and ready to help. Thank you to all of them.

The property was rundown. It’s a shame because it could be beautiful if the owners spent some money on the up keep of what was once a beautiful property

Fantastic

Solo stay

This is an old hotel from Brits period. It is decently modern with hot/cold water showers comfortable beds with good linen. And the staff that work there are the most kindest and helpful people. Lovated right by the Buddhist Holy site, TheTemple of Tooth and the ancient lake, it is also very close for shopping as well Unlike many hotels in Kandy built on the mountain sides that require uphill downhill walksor TukTuks, Queens Hotel is right in the city. Only thing not to do is walking in the evening around the lake since all the birds in the world come to roost on trees around the lake. If you want to do a walk, go to the opposite side of the lake where paths are way from tree line.

This is a historic hotel with a huge charm factor. My room was enormous with three balconies, and the staff was very welcoming and professional. I especially enjoyed tea and coffee in the outdoor private garden and pool area. The location was central and convenient. I always felt safe and welcomed.

Great

It was a pleasant stay at The Queens Hotel. We received a warm welcome on arrival. The position is perfect for visiting the Temple, overlooking the lake in Kandy but the traffic noise is incredible. Yes you are right in the heart of the city so not unexpected but trying to sleep is not easy. Room was clean and adequate and probably once was quite something but now old fashioned and very basic. There are no frills, no luxury and although our bathroom had a bath it was impossible to use it as took too long to fill it! Buffet breakfast was ok, basic and our least favourite in Sri Lanka - perhaps we have been spoilt everywhere else. In summary one night was enough for us.

Really nice stay at the queens hotel. Great location. Staff amazing. Slightly dated. But that was part of its charm.
