Great hotel, in a great location. Pool days were perfect! Nice being able to order food and drinks poolside. Nice being on the coast away from the busy city centre. Rooftop was amazing and an added bonus, a bit windy and chilly later in the evening.

GreatSolo stay
The reception staff were excellent and always very helpful.
Loved the rooftop bar but unfortunately didn’t use it as often as would have liked, as the weather was not always kind.
The hotel is in a great location for The Lido and public transport.

Below averageStayed with partner
We stayed at Allegro Madeira from 24–30 April 2026, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing.
The main issue was unreliable hot water and extremely weak shower pressure, starting on 25 April and continuing intermittently for most of the stay. We were repeatedly told the issue had been “fixed,” despite it clearly not being resolved. On one occasion I had to abandon a shower midway because the water turned cold. We were told this was due to “many guests showering at the same time,” which is difficult to accept for a hotel charging around £160 per night.
The handling of the issue made things worse. Updates only came when chased, there was little urgency, and despite repeated requests we were never able to speak with the General Manager.
The only solutions offered were:
A room change the following day after we had already unpacked
A dinner buffet that did not meet our Halal dietary requirements
Other issues included:
Two excursions booked via reception being cancelled without direct contact
Milk in the room being off on multiple occasions
A very loud room fridge that had to be unplugged
Audible construction noise
Staff generally being unwelcoming
The only standout positive was the bartender at the rooftop lounge, who provided genuinely excellent service.
Overall, the biggest disappointment was not just the problems themselves, but the hotel’s inability or unwillingness to properly resolve them. A formal complaint has been raised and further rejected!!!

GoodStayed with partner
I wouldn’t give this hotel a 4-star rating and as a 3-star it was adequate but too expensive. We booked a junior suite and asked for a room on a higher floor but instead were assigned a cramped room on the 1st floor with a small shower for clients with mobility impairment. After some assertive persuasion we got a room on a 2nd floor which was more spatious and bright but with 2 twin beds instead of a queen bed. We also didn’t get a parking spot even though we arrived before noon and there were empty spots.
On a positive note breakfast buffet had plenty of fruits, eggs and cheese and a few versions of egg dishes. Pancakes were also tasty. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and blackout curtains were adequate.
