Good

Solo stay

The room was over-priced for the general condition of the hotel, which could stand an overall update--tired and stained furniture, stained carpets, small room cluttered with unnecessary items and pieces of furniture, leaving practically no room for the guest's items! I wouldn't have much objection if I had paid a lower rate, but for what I paid, I had higher expectations, which were not met. The staff were outstanding!

This is a lovely property and especially fun to live in a bit of Scottish history while visiting Scotland. The staff were lovely - shout out to Conal, Alistair and Augusta 😊. The rooms were spacious, well-appointed, and clean. A big special bonus was the access to the private park across the street - what an amazing opportunity to experience that space in the city. Make sure to get a key to the park.

Clean, quiet, comfortable room. Friendly and very helpful staff. Great breakfast. Close enough to tram, restaurants ans shopping, but still far enough away to be quiet and relaxing. First time in Scotland and this was the perfect place to stay! Highly recommend!

Great
Upgraded for wonderful view (it was worth it). Room was comfortable, building is very quiet. Did not use any other 'amenities' or explore the rest of hotel as it did seem to be members only, which I respected. Be prepared to have a wait to collect your room key when you return to the hotel as they require the key be turned in each time you leave. Reception also could have done a better job of communicating that plumbing/water was undergoing construction which created water in pipes and jet sprays of water which soaked the bathroom & lots of 'chugging pipes'---3 days in a row! Overall a lovely, old world sort of place in a very peaceful and beautiful neighborhood.

We had a wonderful stay. We didn't expect a huge room, given that it was in Edinburgh, so we thought it was a great space considering. Was very clean and quiet. The front desk host was very helpful, and we appreciated being able to leave our bags on the day of checkout as we explored the city. It's hard to find a family space for 4, so this worked great. Great location, great place, wished we had stayed longer.

The property was so cool and had great history! The room was very clean and comfortable. The best towels ever and wonderful shower. The club has access to the private park across the street so that was a bonus to relax there after long days of walking!

The room was a good size, the hotels was nice, breakfast was a few small options, yoghurt cereal and fruit, then a menu you could order off.
