Learn how to cook stunning Vietnamese dishes on a half day tour of Hoi An. You will start with a visit to the local market to pick up ingredients - but not only that: while there, try mastering a few bargaining techniques and learn the basics of Vietnamese shopping vocabulary. Then, go on to visit Cam Thanh village to get organic vegetables for your cooking master class later. Before you get to cook, though, lots of other adventures await: you will ride in a basket boat, take parting in a boat racing competition, catch fish with rods and a traditional net and row through a coco palm forest. During the two hour cooking class, you will learn to make deep fried spring rolls, papaya salad with shrimp crackers, pork or fish in a clay pot with steamed rice and Banh Xeo (rice pancake with fresh salad) with seasonal fruit for dessert.
You've probably been to quite a few places by now. But have you ever rowed a basket boat on a river or ridden a water buffalo? We are guessing no – and that's why this adventure is sure to stand out among any others. You will have the chance to explore the diverse beauty of Vietnamese countryside and partake in truly authentic local activities. Kick off with a visit to a rice paddy farm where you will get to ride a real water buffalo – just like the local farmers. Visit a nearby fishing village, enjoy a relaxing tea break and go on to the next fun event – paddling a basket boat in a river.
Just a 40 min ride from Da Nang and you find yourself in Hoi An (aka Vietnamese Venice) - a beautiful of yellow bikes, colorful buildings with picturesque flower gardens on their balconies, friendly people, craftsmen of all kinds, freshly roasted coffee on every corner.
Go further and take a bike tour to discover picturesque views of rice fields, ride a buffalo (it looks like they take good care of the animal), take a boat trip through coconut jungles, meet some craftsmen and watch splashy water performance, and finally enjoy your meal at a cozy restaurant right next to the river (btw you they can arrange a cooking class for you there as well).
Everything went according to the plan, and was very well organized. The tour guy was very nice, and took lots of beautiful pictures during the tour. Very good experience, I would recommend this tour.
I would 100% recommend this trip for anyone that’s visiting Hoi An. Love the whole program, we started by visiting the market and we took a 40 mins boat ride to the coconut tree village. We then took the coconut basket to the cooking class. We managed to make spring rolls, fried noodle, vietnamese pancake, and pho. We absolutely enjoyed the class and our chef/guide (Nii) was very pleasant!!
Fantastic way to experience Hoi An culture and food! I had a wonderful guide Vi, who was so informative, kind and attentive to everything I could possibly need. She had so much knowledge and it was very interesting and great to experience the market, and food culture. The day was full of great activities and the homestead is a really lovely, peaceful and relaxing place to be. Great explanations, demonstrations, and hands on experience of how the rice has traditionally been milled, becomes rice milk, and how it comes to be rice paper, even making my own. Also such a personal experience with grandma making an appearance to demonstrate how the rice is dehusked and separated; at 94 years of age! The recipes are delicious and can be made once I go home, especially as the cookbook with the recipes we made is provided. They are so caring and even provide you with ways to contact them in the cookbook for when you go home should you need recipe support, or suggestions for alternative ingredients if you can’t get ones in the recipes at home. Lots of delicious food, I suggest you do not eat breakfast before coming! A definite must do if you love Vietnamese food.
We really loved this tour. Everything went smoothly and it was exactly as described. They picked up us from hotel, we met our guide at the market each of us got small basket to carry the products bought there... Very interesting experience in a good way. Then we travelled by boat about 40 minutes and we had a basket ride with a crab fishing which was really funny. Cooking was amazing, they showed us how to make rice milk in a traditional way, we learnt and cooked 4 recipes. We received a present in the end and they dropped us at our hotel. Very nice tour. We really enjoyed it 😊 I highly recommend this tour to anyone who will stay in Hoi An.
Initial confusion on collection at hotel however only minor. Slightly delayed start due to terrible traffic around Hoi An. The market was interesting learning about the different ingredients & their origins. Enjoyed the boat ride to the Coconut Forest (about 40mins). Wished the Coconut basket ride was longer. Cooking class was great and in natural surroundings (the loud music being played for the nearby Coconut basket guests was tolerable). Recipe booklet given at end to try to repeat at home. Our teacher “Nee” was lovely & spoke good English.
It was our first time in Hoi An, and we were introduced to our tour guide name Flower.
She was an amazing tour guide, with plenty of enthusiasm and excellent chef.
The entire cooking class was an absolutely pleasure and the floating boats were a small treat. Stacey and I thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class and look forward to using the recipes back in our home country.
Thank you Flower for all the help you provided and the fantastic experience.
