We arrived at Prambanan Temple at 5pm due to bad traffic congestion in the city of Yogyakarta. The driver quickly hand us over to the local temple guide to start the tour before sunset. Local guide tried his best to make sure that we see as much as possible despite the short period of time. The sunset silhouette of the temple is worth the hassle. You can even see Mount Merapi from the temple when the sky is clear!

Our driver, Desto, was very very welcoming, cheery and friendly. We received a message from him as we confirmed our booking the evening before. As we had a slight delay for hotel check-in than expected, he was patient and understanding. He spoke good English which made our whole trip easier. He gave very good recommendations and told us about top spots/eateries to see/visit for our remaining days. As we arrived, he took us through to the tourist information centre and helped us take our tickets and brought us to the sheltered area to have our complimentary welcome drinks (tea/coffee/bottled water). He answered all of our queries enthusiastically about the culture, the people and more! As we walked into the temple, he waited for us in the car. It was a cloudy day so we couldn't really see the sunset. However, the big and beautiful structures of the temple blew me away. As someone who doesn't really go for much sight seeing activities, I was greatly surprised at the beauty of the temple. Do walk to the back of the temple for a quieter space to absorb the scenery and take scenic photos! After touring around, Desto recommended a famous Gudeg eatery to try the local dish. after the tour, I emailed KLOOK and requested for our remaining Klook bookings to have Desto as our driver. :)

What a beautiful place to watch sunset! Our driver, Andi, picked us up on time and made great conversation with us. He came to the temple with us at the beginning and showed us the best places for pictures and to watch the sunset. Andi even took photos for me and my sister and then left us to walk around the temple grounds. I would recommend everyone take the tour!

This tour was almost cancelled because i was notified that im the only one who booked the tour. The tour company gave me options to just take it together with the Borobudur sunrise tour and just refund a portion of my booking. I said for them to wait for last minute bookings and let me know a day before. Thank god, a group of french guys booked the tour because i really want to spend the sunrise there. Pick up was on time. Driver was friendly and speaks english so well.

By far, one of the best temples I have been to in Asia. Beautiful during sunset! Highly recommend that you do a walking tour with one of the local guides as you’ll learn about Candi Prambanan / Candi Roro Jonggrang more. Got to meet some english student interns too and had a brief immersion with them. All in all, great way to end the day.

The temple complex is huge, impressive and well maintained. We got a guide who is very humourous and animated, explaining to us the history and telling interesting stories behind the different temples and stone carvings. We did not manage to see the sunset though cos it was rather cloudy. By the time we were leaving, the place was rather dark and the exit route towards the carpark was not brightly lit. It was a little scary for me. 😄
