About the event

1st prize winner of the 2021 Menuhin International Violin Competition Keila Wakao returns to Singapore to play Barber’s gorgeous Violin concerto with re:Sound.

Conceived in 1939, the most glorious year of American cinema, the concerto’s score is cinematic, embodying the ideals of grace, beauty and passion of the silver screen.

Featured also on the programme is Barber’s intensely stirring Adagio for Strings, as well as Mendelssohn’s String Symphony No. 7, composed by a young Felix Mendelssohn, who was already demonstrating his genius in counterpoint and orchestration.
