Even though it was the rainy season, we didn't get wet and enjoyed the whole day. Jenny was very kind. Since the hotel was not included in the free shuttle service, we were able to arrange a nearby meeting place via LINE after arriving in Bangkok, so the bus was a relief. Only a local person could introduce us to the good things about Thailand and its delicious food. I work for a travel agency in Japan, and I would like to recommend this tour to my acquaintances! It was a shame that the handle of the bus had come off and the seat belt was broken so I couldn't wear it.

Our guide Mr.Tong was so punctual and nice. He communicated everything through WhatsApp and was so helpful. The whole trip was as per the description and Mr. Tong allowed plenty time for us to explore each sites. He even suggested a lunch option which was such a beautiful place with good food. Instead of visiting all heritage temples in Ayyuthaya, this one covered both train village and floating market which was more practical and fun.

We’re a family of four with a curious 10-year-old and a thoughtful teenager, and our Ayutthaya trip couldn’t have been better thanks to Nut our amazing driver and tour guide! He made sure we were comfortable the entire day, clearly explained the itinerary, and kept everything well organized. He was very accommodating, making sure both kids were engaged and enjoying the experience. We really appreciated how hardworking he was. He took great family photos for us at every stop, and even recommended a nice place for dinner as we neared our hotel — a thoughtful way to end the day. His friendly attitude, professionalism, and insightful commentary added so much to the trip. We felt safe, relaxed, and well taken care of. Highly recommended, especially for families. Thank you for a truly memorable day!

The staff were kind. The bus was comfortable. I was happy to receive water, fruit, and other treats. I felt relieved that all the participants were Japanese. At the end, we arrived about 1:30 late due to traffic jams.

First of all, I am very grateful that the local operator consulted with me many times when I applied for this charter. Since it was my first time in this area, I was very grateful because I didn't know the distance or time allocation. On the day, the cute driver who loves Japan took us around safely and efficiently, and we had a very enjoyable time. We decided to take a boat at the last minute at Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market, but they were happy to change the meeting time so we could have a meal and were very satisfied. We narrowed down the Ayutthaya ruins to a few places and included Wat Paknam, but they showed us places that we might not have visited if we had gone there without knowing anything, and it became a good memory. This time, we only had one day to sightsee, so we were able to go to as many places as we wanted to go on the charter, and that was really good. If I have the opportunity to go to Thailand next time, I would definitely like to ask for your help again. Thank you very much.

Reclining Buddha Image

Prepare to be awestruck by the magnificent Reclining Buddha Image at Wat Lokayasutha, a true masterpiece of the Middle Ayutthaya period. This colossal statue, stretching 42 meters in length and standing 8 meters tall, captivates visitors with its serene expression and unique features, such as the equal-length toes and the vertical arm supporting the head. As you stand before this majestic figure, you'll feel a sense of peace and reverence, making it an unforgettable highlight of your visit.

Khmer-style Prang

Step back in time as you explore the impressive Khmer-style Prang at Wat Lokayasutha. Towering at 30 meters, this Late Ayutthaya period structure is a testament to the rich architectural heritage of the region. With its hollow entrance and surrounding remnants of an ubosot, sema stones, and Buddha images, the prang offers a fascinating glimpse into the past. It's a must-visit for history enthusiasts and those looking to delve deeper into the cultural tapestry of Ayutthaya.

Lanna-style Chedi

Venture northwest of the Reclining Buddha Image to discover the intriguing Lanna-style Chedi at Wat Lokayasutha. Often hidden by lush vegetation, this non-restored chedi features an octagonal base and prang-like shape, adorned with well-preserved stucco and arched niches. These niches house standing and meditating Buddha images, reflecting the influence of the Haripunchai Kingdom on the monastery. It's a hidden gem that offers a unique perspective on the diverse architectural styles that have shaped this historic site.

Cultural and Historical Significance

Wat Lokayasutha holds immense cultural and historical importance, linked to the Royal Palace through the ancient Khlong Fang canal. Despite its grand size and strategic location, much of its history remains a mystery. The temple's restoration, led by prominent figures and organizations, underscores its lasting significance in Thai heritage. Constructed in the 14th century, it stands as a testament to the architectural and spiritual legacy of the Ayutthaya Kingdom, offering a poignant reminder of the city's past grandeur and its eventual destruction by the Burmese in 1767. The temple also reflects the Khmer concept of temple construction, with a central tower surrounded by a courtyard and gallery, dating back to the reign of King Naresuan.

Architectural Highlights

The architectural marvels of Wat Lokayasutha are truly captivating. The main prang, symbolizing the cosmic Mount Meru, and the unique westward-facing Reclining Buddha, showcase the temple's intricate architectural and symbolic design. These features highlight the temple's significance and the artistry of its creators.

Local Cuisine

While exploring Wat Lokayasutha, be sure to indulge in the local culinary delights of Ayutthaya. Savor the famous 'Boat Noodles,' a flavorful dish traditionally served from boats along the canals, and treat yourself to 'Roti Sai Mai,' a delightful sweet made of spun sugar wrapped in a thin crepe. These dishes offer a taste of the region's rich culinary heritage.
