We enjoyed this tour. Vicky spoke English really well and the driver was a polite young man. The elephants were well behaved. It was very interesting to see the personalities and dynamics amongst the elephants and with their minders. A baby elephant ran a couple of times towards his mum for a cuddle, while she was posing with guests for photos. The minder would run after the baby, telling him to return. Very funny to watch. Cafe was pleasant to sit down at and enjoy a drink. We paid extra for the yummy shrimp spring rolls and chicken nuggets. Our son tried durian for the first time at the fruit market. He thought the taste was “interesting”. 🤣
I apologize for forgetting to ask the driver's name, but he was a young man. The vehicle was in great condition, his driving was very smooth, and he was very punctual. We were the only group of guests, so once we got in the car, we headed straight to Elfin Farm. We were also the first group to arrive, getting there around 9:30 AM before the elephants even started their day. However, the staff was wonderful; about 15 minutes later, they brought over a 5-year-old baby female elephant. We fed her bananas and sugarcane. Afterward, 5 or 6 elephants of various ages arrived one after another, each with their own name. Their business hours start at 10:00 AM, and it gets quite busy after that. I was so glad we were the first group to arrive, as it gave us the chance to take photos with the elephants in peace and enjoy the tranquility of the mountains. The landscaping throughout the park is fantastic, and it is a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee. On the way back, we stopped at a very local market—a truly authentic Thai traditional market. After buying some fruit, we asked the driver if he could drop us off at a mall, and he readily agreed. He didn't charge any extra, so we gave him a tip. The whole trip went very smoothly and the timing was just right. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to spend a morning seeing elephants and mountain views.
Great experience 👍 Highly recommend. We got a basket with bananas and sugar cane and 100 THB for spending in the Elefin Cafe.
Pick up timing was a half hour window (8:30 - 9am), so you may end up wondering if the driver had come and left, or still otw, like what we experienced. Hiccups aside, the drive to the Elephant Farm was scenic and smooth. Highlight was definitely feeding the elephants who are smart to know what they want/ didn't want from your basket of sugar cane and bananas. Will be on a platform while the elephants are below so you feel safe. Can only feed from the platform too and not the side where the fences are. Trainers are kind enough to help with getting the elephant in place for photo taking if you don't want to pay to wear the outfit and take with mountain backdrop. Package includes a drink (100 baht) which can either be used at the cafe in the farm, or at the next location which is the fruits market. Stayed at the farm for around 1.5 hours. Fruit market has a lot of different tropical fruits to purchase, either packed or individual pieces. Good luck haggling!
The driver arrived at the hotel lobby earlier than scheduled and contacted us directly via WhatsApp. The drive from the Nimman area to the sanctuary wasn't too far, but we happened to visit during Chiang Mai's rainy season, and it poured once we got up the mountain. However, the driver was very polite and waited for us to get ready. After a brief discussion, he refunded the cost of the complimentary drinks in cash and continued to wait while we finished our interaction with the elephants. The bananas and sugarcane provided for the elephants were quite fresh, and the staff were friendly to children and helped take photos. The dining area was clean and tidy. There weren't too many people at the sanctuary, probably fewer than 20.
Tour participants were able to take photos and interact with the elephants up close, receiving more comprehensive service than general visitors. The staff were also very kind. It was a great experience with good cost performance and efficiency.
good experience if you want to go near elephants. you may touch and feed them. may also take photos. nice environment. fruit market nothing much. but is cheap.
best of best tours . my family enjoyed and riding with the elephant is lovely . staffs also have a good attitude with all the people
had a wonderful experience. just about the right amount of interaction with these beauty animals . would highly recommend.
The tour guide and driver was amazing. When I forgot the free time and he saw us checking our phones, he immediately offered to lead the way. Throughout the trip, he carried a 5-year-old child while climbing a waterfall, looked after two kids, carried our belongings, retrieved floating slippers, took photos, and even carried a basket of bananas. He was so thoughtful and attentive that I gave him a tip of 250.
