Reviews summaryPeter was a really wonderful tour guide and driver! He provides every little info we needed to know about the tour and the location. During our 4 hours of bus round trip, he didn’t rest at all but kept providing us useful info with soft and low voice which are perfect for both those who want to listen and rest at the same time!
Really enjoyed myself during the day trip. Everything went smoothly. The driver and the cruise captain were friendly and professional. We felt well taken care of. Giethoorn is gorgeous, not to be missed if you visit the Netherlands.
I went to Amsterdam last year, but I was left behind on a different tour, but this was very good! You should go! Giethoorn, known as the "Venice of the Netherlands," is a water village in the northeast of the Netherlands with a fairy-tale-like landscape and a history of 750 years. It began when early settlers discovered many goat horns in the marshland, and it came to be called "Giethoorn," which means goat bone. Since the Middle Ages, many lakes have been formed due to peat mining, and waterways and canals have been dug to transport the peat. Brick-built, thatched-roof houses line the narrow canals that run in all directions, and more than 170 wooden bridges are built over them, making it a small village that retains the rural scenery unique to the Netherlands. Here in Giethoorn, the only means of transportation are by foot, bicycle, or boat. Although it is a tourist destination, it is quiet, and everywhere you look is full of picturesque beauty.
A highly recommended itinerary. Taking public transportation to Giethoorn by yourself is cumbersome and time-consuming. To participate in this itinerary, just go to This is Holland before 10 o'clock and look for a staff member wearing a hop on hop off. Scan the QR code and they will give you a bus voucher for the return trip. Give it to the driver. The driver and tour guide Gilbert is very friendly and interesting. He explains the history along the way and the gathering time instructions are very clear. Thank you 👍🏻 It also includes a 1-hour cruise. Gilbert will take the entire group to the boarding point and indicate that they can use the restaurant toilets that provide the cruise. After the cruise, you have about 2-3 hours of free time. You can stroll around Giethoorn and find a restaurant for lunch on your own. Just wait at the door of the restaurant during the meeting time.
In the morning, you will meet up at This is Holland on your own. The staff present are all foreigners. They will ask you to follow the purple signs to gather, and then board the tour bus. It will take about an hour and almost two hours to reach Giethoorn. The scenery on the way is also good, and there are many things to see. In Zaihuatian (April), the driver will give a little introduction. After arriving, take a boat tour around the outside area, and the captain will also introduce you. Then you will have about 4 hours of free time. There is a restaurant where you can have lunch. Then at the appointed time, you will return to the same tour bus and return to This is Holland. The time to return to This is Holland is 6 pm.
Very easy to book via Klook. The tour was exactly like the photos, Giethoorn is a dreamy place. A bit too crowded on a Sunday but highly recommended if you are in Amsterdam.
We have an amazing time in Giethoorn! Wonderful experience from the beginning of the tour in I am Holland service Center and we are lucky to have had Gibert as tour guide and the youngest captain in our boat trip! There was issue at the beginning to get on the coach but the staff there solve it with professional manners and they were super helpful. Gibert the tour guide is very experienced. the captain from the boat trip is super funny and we enjoyed the boat ride so much! Highly recommend people to join!
we went to Giethoorn during Easter holiday and everything was very good. Good weather. The driver and the guide Gilbert was nice, friendly and humor. We have a boat tour to go around Giethoorn and then have some free time to explore on our own.
If you go to Giethoorn by yourself, the transportation is really inconvenient. With Klook’s tour group, you can reach your destination point-to-point on a tour bus, which is comfortable and convenient. The itinerary includes a one-hour sightseeing boat ride, and then three hours of free time in Giethoorn. Although it is a bit rushed, walking along the canal, the scenery is pleasant, and it is full of vacation feeling, which makes people happy and forget to return. Back on the tour bus, the driver and tour guide even gave everyone a bottle of water, which was very heartwarming!
The trip is worth it. Nice view. Highly recommended to go this trip when you are in Amsterdam. Good place to take OOTD.
