Zermatt: Gornergrat Railway Cogwheel Train Ticket

Purchasing through Klook gave us a 5% discount, and we received the voucher promptly. There was no need to exchange it for a physical ticket; we simply scanned the QR code to enter, which was very convenient. We visited Zermatt in mid-June and had fantastic weather. From the Gornergrat observation deck, we could see the Matterhorn and the glacier up close. On our way back, we hiked directly to Riffelhorn, where we enjoyed lunch from a high vantage point, gazing at the Matterhorn and Lake Riffelsee. After taking photos, we continued to the next stop, Riffelberg (but remember to take the longer path for the best experience). The scenery along this route is beautiful, and hiking with the Matterhorn in view the whole time was incredibly enjoyable. It's an even better and more scenic walk than hiking from the observation deck to Lake Riffelsee. Therefore, I highly recommend hiking down two stops from the Gornergrat observation deck. However, when visiting the Swiss mountains, be sure to bring a waterproof jacket and waterproof hiking shoes.

The ride up to the Matterhorn was amazing. Too bad when we were up there, it was having a snow storm so we did not see the Matterhorn at the top. But the ride was very pleasant and we enjoyed its a lot.

This is super worth to get it! simply purchase and you get a QR code which you can scan at the ticketing machine and get a physical ticket to enter! Especially so you are in the priority zone so you get to board the train first!

The ride up offered stunning scenery — the views along the way were absolutely beautiful! 🚠🏔️ Unfortunately, it was quite cloudy by the time we reached the top, so we missed out on the full panorama. If you can, aim for a morning slot when the skies are clearer for the best experience. Still, a great trip overall with amazing landscapes on the way up!

Gornergrat Railway is located just opposite the Zermatt train station. Do exchange for the physical ticket at the ticketing kiosk using the klook QR code. You will need the physical ticket to scan at the turnstile to enter the station. Headed straight to the topmost station which is Gornergrat. There’s an indoor exhibition at Gornergrat which is free for those with the physical railway ticket. It is called ZOOOM the Matterhorn @Gornergrat. On the way down, can also dropped off at the stations Rotenboden and Riffelberg for more nice view of the matterhorn.
