Reviews

Originally I was planning to go to another place on my trip to Izu, but unfortunately it was raining, so I changed my plans and went here. There are outside exhibits, but there are many inside exhibits, and I enjoyed it enough even on rainy days. Turtles were walking everywhere in the building, and I was able to experience feeding them, which was a lot of fun. I wasn't able to see the exhibits outside because of the rain, but the big crocodile left the biggest impression on me. I want to go again!

Located in Izu, iZoo is one of Japan's largest interactive zoos, just a 5-minute taxi ride from Izu Kyuko Line Kawazu Station or easily accessible by car. iZoo is not only home to a vast collection of reptiles and amphibians from around the world, but it also offers a new style of experiencing animals—not by viewing them from a distance but by enjoying them up close and personal, allowing for a hands-on experience. Imagine standing next to a giant crocodile, watching a tortoise wander at your feet, or spotting a chameleon hiding in the trees! Visitors can immerse themselves in an environment that feels like exploring a subtropical jungle, providing an extraordinary experience. Even those who may initially find reptiles a bit intimidating might change their minds after a visit to iZoo. The secret lies in the recreational activities with the animals! Take memorable photos with a large python, feed tortoises, or watch turtle races. By interacting with these creatures, you might find yourself unexpectedly growing fond of them!

KawaZoo, located in the Nashimoto area in the northern part of Kawazu Town, Shizuoka Prefecture, is Japan's largest interactive frog museum. It features over 120 species and 2,000 frogs from around the world, ranging from rare species to familiar ones. It is the sister facility to the interactive animal park iZoo located in the southern part of the same town. By keeping some of the frogs in outdoor enclosures, visitors can observe their natural behaviors and colors throughout the year, recreating environments where frogs can display their natural hues. Additionally, 90% of the facility features all-weather indoor exhibits, so visitors can enjoy their visit even on rainy days.
