Iceland Golden Circle & Blue Lagoon Day Tour (Crater Lake Geysers & Golden Waterfall)

Thingvellir is located on the exposed part of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, a rift valley between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, meaning you will be standing between two continents. The Öxarárfoss waterfall flows through the ridge, creating a beautiful 13-meter (42.65-foot) drop.

The Almannagjá gorge, with water sourced from Langjökull, Iceland’s second-largest glacier, boasts crystal-clear waters. The Geysir area is an active geothermal region, filled with steam vents, bubbling mud pots, and colorful ponds. The most striking feature is the Strokkur geyser, which erupts every 5-10 minutes, sending a column of water up to 20 meters high. Visitors must be especially careful and only walk on designated paths, as the water temperature beneath the hot springs is extremely high.

Gullfoss waterfall, also known as the Golden Waterfall, is one of the must-see attractions on Iceland’s Golden Circle. Its waters first cascade down a gentle 11-meter (36-foot) slope, then plunge over a 68-meter (230-foot) cliff, creating a massive spray of mist. Kerið crater is another highlight on Iceland’s Golden Circle, famous for its green lake and colorful crater slopes. Kerið crater was formed 3,000 years ago when a volcanic eruption caused the volcanic chamber to collapse, forming the crater we see today. The crater has a perfect inverted cone shape, and visitors can explore it along the walking paths.

The Blue Lagoon is today’s highlight, known for its milky blue waters, rich in silica, algae, salts, and other minerals, offering excellent cosmetic benefits. Here, you can enjoy a spa-like experience, and in winter, you might even see the Northern Lights. Since its opening in 1987, the Blue Lagoon’s therapeutic reputation has spread far and wide, attracting millions of visitors worldwide.
