Event Introduction
In the neighborhood of Dadaocheng, where history and modernity intertwine, "Tipsy Time Machine: A Glass of Red Wine, Traversing a Century of Taiwanese Music Memories" invites you to travel through time and listen to the sounds from the island.
This performance is carefully curated by the MiT Music in Time team. Through a 60-minute live vocal and piano performance, the audience will be guided back in time along a timeline to revisit classic Taiwanese songs from the 1930s to the present. The program spans four major themes, from pre-war songs such as "Rainy Night Flower," "Looking at the Spring Breeze," and "Four Seasons Red," to depictions of ordinary life such as "Oyster Harvesting Song," and "Eternal Homeland," and then to poetic and affectionate songs such as "You and Me" and "The Moon Represents My Heart." Each segment represents cultural imprints and collective memories of different eras.
The performance adopts a "Music × Image × Narrative" format. Each song is accompanied by multilingual subtitles (English, Japanese, Korean) and locally filmed video materials, allowing the audience to not only "hear" the music but also "see" the story. "Dadaocheng" is no longer just a stage background, but one of the protagonists - the incense of Xia Hai City God Temple, the street houses of Dihua Street, and the twilight shadows of the pier will all be interwoven with music through video projections to create a soundscape belonging to Taiwan.
During the performance, the audience will enjoy a glass of red wine carefully selected by the music director (or choose a non-alcoholic beverage), and experience this journey of sound and memory in a warm and artistic atmosphere.
