What to expect

Experience Description

In this experience, you will use organic, natural, and healthy vegetarian ingredients grown by the host's parents to make traditional Chinese pastries: Mixed Nuts Mooncakes. This is a traditional symbol of the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival and a taste of Mid-Autumn Festival from childhood for those born in the 70s and 80s. All ingredients are organic, natural, healthy, and vegetarian.

You can also learn about the stories and traditional meanings of Mixed Nuts Mooncakes from the host. Autumn is the season of harvest, and the mooncake fillings are all seasonal foods harvested in autumn. The different sweet flavors of Mixed Nuts Mooncakes represent: reunion and sweetness, a bountiful harvest of spring-sown and autumn-harvested foods gathered together for families to enjoy the moon.

Many years ago, people only had the opportunity to eat mooncakes once a year during the Mid-Autumn Festival, and dumplings were only eaten occasionally during the Lunar New Year and other festivals. With the development of the times, people's living conditions have improved. Now, as long as people are happy, they can eat dumplings/moon cakes/zongzi/tangyuan every day on all kinds of happy days to celebrate the sweetness of our lives and share joy.

Experience Process

  1. The host will lead everyone to participate in the entire process in depth (showing guests the secrets of pasta making without reservation), from selecting different fillings to mixing and proofing the dough, and wrapping the mooncakes, experiencing the whole process.
  2. Whether you take the subway or a taxi, the host will personally pick you up/drop you off at the subway exit and the entrance. (The host’s home is located in the east of Beijing, near Universal Studios, so please arrange your time in advance. It is very convenient right next to the subway.)
  3. Each person can take home a portion of their own traditional delicious Chinese pastries (the host can provide exquisite packaging boxes)
