  • "Tech Meets Tradition" utilizes holographic projection technology to bring Mazu "riding the waves." The blend of virtual and real performances perfectly integrates traditional folk customs with modern technology, giving ancient legends a new lease on life and delivering a stunning visual feast.
  • "Legends in Light and Shadow" uses a 360-degree panoramic projection as a stage, transforming Mazu's legends of saving people into flowing light and shadows. With surging waves, rising auspicious clouds, and stunning sound effects, the audience can immerse themselves in the legendary life of the sea goddess.
  • "Experiencing Emotions in a Real-Life Setting" creates an immersive, real-life theater, realistically recreating the fishing village with fishing boats, ancient streets, and waves. Actors move through the scene, using song, dance, and drama to depict Mazu's journey from mortal to sea goddess, conveying the spirit of boundless love.
  • "Interactive Inheritance of Faith" sets up an "Interactive Blessing and Wish-Making" segment, where the audience can personally write prayer plaques and participate in the sacrificial rituals. Feel the profound heritage of Mazu culture in the sense of ritual, allowing faith to be passed on at your fingertips and the soul to be sublimated in interaction.

What to expect

  • Impression Mazu is a breathtaking large-scale cultural tourism performance, grandly staged in Meizhou Island, Putian, Fujian, the birthplace of Mazu. Jointly created by the Meizhou Island Management Committee and Sanxiang Impression’s Impression Wonders, it is an elevated work of the Impression series 4.0 and has attracted much attention since its premiere on October 1, 2024.
  • The performance lasts 66 minutes and uses Mazu's life story as a main thread, vividly depicting the legendary story of Lin Mo, a mortal woman, who helped others and benefited the world, and delicately interpreting Mazu's journey from a mortal to a goddess. The whole play is divided into five acts: "Question," "Virtue," "Kindness," "Love," and "Vow." Using the "Door" as a mirror, it reflects the choices and struggles of individual lives in the torrent of fate, inspiring people to deeply reflect on the spirit of Mazu and their own choices in life.
  • The stage of Impression Mazu can be regarded as a major highlight, as it innovatively creates the first parallel illusion stage in the country. By constructing multiple parallel relationships, it successfully breaks through the boundaries of time, space, reality, and illusion, bringing the audience an unprecedented experience of symbiotic imagery. During the performance, Lin Mo, at the moment of her death at the age of 28, will pass through the “Gate of Time” to engage in “parallel” dialogues with herself at different ages, dreamily displaying the thousand-year inheritance of Mazu culture. The stage design is inspired by the “double-eaves” architecture of the Meizhou Mazu Ancestral Temple. The inner eave-style stage, the middle aisle stage, and the outer long stage together form an artistic mapping of the Mazu Ancestral Temple architecture.
  • Another breakthrough is the first integration of AR glasses experience into a large-scale cultural tourism performance. When wearing exclusive "Spirit Mirror" glasses, the audience can open the door to a "cross-dimensional" world, enjoying the magnificence of the real stage and traveling through the wonderful illusion in the void. Through gesture interaction, they can interact with the stage in real-time and feel the immersive new viewing experience that is both real and illusory. The performance also cleverly integrates Putian's local folk customs and folk arts, such as the Puxian Opera and "Ten-Sound Eight-Music," allowing the audience to deeply understand Putian's unique local culture while enjoying the audio-visual feast.

Good to know

  • For VIP Zone 2, please be sure to have your tickets checked and enter the venue 20 minutes before the show starts (there is an AR glasses interactive experience 10 minutes before the show starts) so that staff can adjust the equipment for you. Ticket checking and entry will stop 5 minutes before the show starts.
  • This performance only includes the AR glasses experience in VIP Zone 2 (one AR glasses per seat). VIP Zone 1, Guest Zones 1 & 2, Parterre Seats, and other preferential tickets do not include AR glasses.
  • Each adult is limited to bringing one child under 1.2 meters in height. Free admission for children does not include a seat. Children 1.2 meters and above require a ticket for entry (Children's ticket seats: Guest Zone 1).
