Reviews
This was a cost-effective tour that allowed us to see a wide range of sights on Oahu. After being picked up on time, we visited the following in order: ① Diamond Head Lookout (15 minutes) → ② Halona Blowhole (15 minutes) → ③ Leonard's Bakery (30 minutes) → ④ Beach with views of Mokoliʻi Island (15 minutes) → ⑤ Tanaka Shrimp (40 minutes) → ⑥ Fruit Market (15 minutes) → ⑦ Macadamia Nut Farm (20 minutes) → ⑧ Haleiwa Beach (1.5 hours) → ⑨ Dole Plantation (40 minutes). For ①, there was no hiking; we drove up to a small lookout with ocean views. At ③, each person received one malasada of their preferred flavor. We ordered from Leonard's Bakery's food truck, which was parked in the Koko Marina Center parking lot. ④ was a scenic spot exactly as pictured. The filming location for Jurassic Park was nearby, and we enjoyed the atmosphere from inside the car. For ⑤, menus were distributed in the car while we were en route, and we decided on our orders before arriving at the restaurant. Each plate was $18, and we shared one between two people. At ⑥, you could buy fresh fruit and fried bananas. At ⑦, there were free samples of macadamia nuts and coffee inside the store, which you could try freely. We bought nuts for souvenirs. ⑧ was a beach where you could see sea turtles, and we actually saw just under 10 sea turtles up close (we heard they weren't visible the day before). Snorkeling gear seemed to be available for rent on the spot ($20), but the ocean was murky, and it would have been a hassle to change, so we didn't snorkel and just dipped our feet in the water. Few tour participants went fully into the ocean. At ⑨, there was no park tour; it was mainly souvenir shops and food. We bought pineapple soft serve, which was very delicious. (Other notes) Our guide provided explanations almost continuously, but since it was in English, we didn't understand much. However, the visual information was enjoyable enough. The guide spoke good Japanese, but explanations were generally not in Japanese. There were just under 30 tour participants, and we traveled by microbus. We were the only Japanese people. We could freely take drinks from the cooler in the car, and there were plenty of bottled water and canned juices. Since the tour goes counter-clockwise around Oahu, you get a good view of the ocean if you sit on the right side of the car. We wore sneakers and brought sandals for the beach, but since the walking time was short, sneakers weren't really necessary.
The itinerary might seem a bit tiring, but you can actually sleep during the travel time, so you can travel without any physical issues. The guide was very kind and cheerful, making the trip enjoyable 😎 It was great to be able to go to the northern tip of the island, which is difficult to reach by public transportation, and especially to see the Dole Plantation, which is well-known in Korea 😊 I recommend it to travelers on foot or those who want a cost-effective tour. The food was also delicious.
If you come to Oahu, Hawaii, you must take the beach tour. It's okay to rent a car and do the tour yourself because you can take your time. But our guide really doesn't stop talking for even a second when driving the car. I really respect that. The guide/driver made the trip worthwhile for almost 50%. I'd like to meet them again next time I come. If you come to Hawaii, you have to do the island beach tour to say you've been to Hawaii ~~~~ lol
Our tour guide Dirk was fantastic! He was so informative and very engaging. We were super lucky the weather was great when we went, the places we stopped at were very nice. Dirk treated us to malasadas and a pineapple dole whip which was amazing. Overall would highly recommend.
Pick up was on time. Dirk the driver and tour guide was very entertaining. Lot's of information about the island. We were not able to do the snorkling, because of the water condition other than that everything went great. Dirk tried his best to compensate by letting us see and feel the beautiful beaches.
Do this tour… you won’t regret it!! We booked it last minute and it was the best thing we’ve done since we arrived in Hawaii. Dirk was our tour guide and he was amazing, so friendly and knowledgeable. We highly recommend this!!
I joined knowing that there would be an English-speaking guide. The guide (driver) was very fun and told us many stories about Hawaii (English intermediate level or higher may be required to understand the content). The pick-up car was convenient and near the hotel. We stopped at various farms and I learned what kind of trees the crops grow on, and there were really a lot of samples, which was very helpful. The only slight disappointment was that the waves at the snorkeling beach were too high and we couldn't snorkel (those who want to snorkel might want to consider the time of year). However, they refunded the rental equipment since we didn't use it, and we were able to see sea turtles swimming, which you can't see in Waikiki, so I thought the value of the full-day tour was high.
I was very satisfied with the tour around Oahu! However, while there was no rental fee for snorkeling, the beach was rocky with a lot of driftwood, and the sea was murky brown, so I couldn't see anything... But, the guide spoke to me in Japanese, and I enjoyed the delicious pineapple soft serve ice cream and malasadas, so it was a very satisfying trip! It was a lot of fun driving through the Jurassic Park filming location while listening to music.
This tour offers the best value for exploring all of Oahu, Hawaii. The guide is very friendly, and the service is extremely satisfying.
Our tourist guide Derek is better than great. We have learned so much about Hawaii and there were so many jokes the whole day. Snorkeling is our favourite part as it’s not hard to see the sea turtles. The lunch is very yummy and we had so much fun!
