- The fort and souk offer excellent photography opportunities. For the best lighting, visit the fort in the morning. Always ask permission before photographing people, especially in the souk. -Don’t miss trying Omani halwa and fresh dates from the souk. Friday mornings are the best time to visit the Nizwa Souk, especially if you want to experience the lively goat market. However, weekdays are less crowded, allowing you to browse and shop more comfortably. Jebel Akhdar, being at a higher altitude, has a cooler climate compared to the rest of Oman. Bring a light jacket or sweater, especially if you plan to stay until the evening.
