I did not even stay the night - walked into the room, looked around, and walked out to find somewhere else. I’ve never sdone that before. The room was like a little prison cell. The whole place felt like it was falling apart and so dated. I decided the good location was not worth it and went to The Social Hub instead - same price but much better quality!

I recently stayed at Hotel Palace Bologna Center. While I understand that it’s an older hotel, I appreciated that it was generally clean and I didn’t notice any cobwebs. Unfortunately, the carpet in my room was quite dirty and looked like it needed a thorough cleaning. The biggest disappointment was the customer service. The staff were not very helpful during my stay. At one point, I simply wanted to fill my water bottle with cold water from the dining area. Although the door was closed, it wasn’t locked, but the receptionist refused to let me in. Instead, I had to pay €1.60 for a bottle of water that wasn’t even cold. I also visited Italy during the summer, and although I understand that air conditioning isn’t always as common or as powerful in Europe as it is elsewhere, I specifically booked an air-conditioned room. Unfortunately, the room felt like the heat was on, making it very uncomfortable. When I reported the issue, I was told there was nothing they could do. Overall, the hotel’s central location is convenient, but the poor customer service, dirty carpeting, and uncomfortable room temperature made the stay disappointing.

Great

Solo stay

Lobby was beautiful but lacking a comfortable temp. They run AC at a minimum but leave front door open to outside. The hallways have no ac and the room they gave me was an air conditioned room but it did not work. They did move me to a bigger, nicer room with working ac but I had to pay an additional 20 euro per night.

The staff at reception were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room itself was generally clean, however the hallways/corridors need a thorough industrial clean to create a more reassuring atmosphere. The bathroom as well needs cleaning (i.e. mold on the shower curtain and tiles). Several room amenities didn't work such as the TV and hair dryer. Rooms on the upper floors (we were on the 4th floor) need some sort of cooler as the room and bathroom were unbearably hot and the fan does not help.

May have been acceptable in the 80’s!! The dirt of the carpet overall along with the dust, grubby bed clothes and curtains. Overall very dirty and grubby hotel Charing ridiculous fees Don’t be fooled with the good location, not worth it!

Unfortunately, this was the most disappointing hotel stay of our vacation through France, Spain, and Italy. We booked one night here before our early morning flight to London, expecting a comfortable place to rest. Upon entering Room #306, we immediately found that the air conditioning was not working despite temperatures of around 90°F (32°C). We also noticed two portable fans already in the room, suggesting the hotel was aware of the issue before our arrival. The room also had a strong musty odor. We reported the problem immediately and asked to be moved to any available room with working air conditioning, even if it meant our family of four sharing a smaller room. The front desk initially questioned whether the AC was actually broken, but after inspecting the room themselves, they confirmed it was not functioning. Unfortunately, there was no maintenance available, and no alternative room was offered. What made the experience even more disappointing was the lack of empathy. Instead of understanding our situation, the lady manager on duty responded with an ungracious attitude and an unpleasant stare, leaving us feeling like our concerns were an inconvenience. With an early flight the next morning, we had no choice but to book another hotel at our own expense and pay for an additional taxi. This was the only hotel during our entire vacation that failed to provide the basic accommodations we had reserved. Sadly, we cannot recommend this property based on our experience.

Good

Solo stay

I have stayed in this hotel a number of times before and it's fantastic for its location and price, but man, they really need to sort out the air-conditioning situation. They gave me a desk fan, which wasn't really up to the task, and sleeping in these conditions was not pleasant. I'm not sure if I'll stay there again as the prospect of putting up with another summer of 37/38 degree heat in one of these rooms is not a tempting one. The hotel is a bit old and shabby and needs a proper overhaul. The creaking floorboards are incredibly loud when people are walking up and down the corridors. The staff were very nice. Special mention to Antonella on reception, who was lovely and helpful.
