Fantastic

Stayed with family

Gower Manor Bed and Breakfast is unique!! It has a carefully curated decor like living in a museum. Located in the colourful row houses near Jelly Bean Row in downtown St. John's. The entire place is very clean and cared for well. Bill's hospitality and knowledge of the area is fantastic. I wish I had stayed for more than one night. The self-serve continental breakfast is no frills, which for us wasn't an issue since we had to be at the airport very early. There is a communal fridge in the kitchen and if needed, you can request a spot for your own personal items. The neighbourhood was quiet which was nice for a restful sleep. We stayed in the Blue Room which is at the front of the house. You can catch a glimpse of the iconic The Rooms Archives and Museum from its windows. The bed was adequate. It was comfortable enough. It wasn't the most comfortable bed we slept in on our 9 day trip, but it also wasn't the least comfortable either. There are signs posted throughout the B&B with instructions and expectations clearly marked. This is very helpful. The communal bathroom is large. We didn't use the tub or shower, so cannot comment on their status. The next time I visit St. John's, I will definitely book a longer stay in this lovely space.

Fantastic

Solo stay

Immaculately conceived and immaculately kept home that truly had every I needed and more - The location is blocks away from all four historic church museums and blocks away from the eclectic streets and culture of the most colourful city in the world - Thanks to our host Bill for his attention to detail and kind demeanour- God has certainly blessed his home and my experience here in St John’s; and the rest of Newfoundland I saw as well - Thank you - Until next time - Randall

Good

This is a cute and charming place if you like that old fashioned vibe. It had too many decorations for my taste though. The kitchen is very dated and the breakfast was self serve and very basic. Our room was very dusty, but it must be difficult to dust around the many items on display. There are a lot of labels and signs for the rules and regulations which took away from some of the charm.

Fantastic

Solo stay

This is the most unique place I have stayed. What a beautiful old house, full of history. Bill was a welcoming host, there wad everything needed for a continental breakfast and tea and coffee at any time. The location in downtown St. John's was perfect for hiking to Signal Hill and around the Batteries. There are many close by places to eat. The bed was very comfortable.

The entire house is fascinating, so many antiques and collectibles all over. We were treated very well during our 4 day stay. Easy walking distance to many restaurants and significant historical sites.

Such a beautiful place and within walking distance to everything you need. Bill was a very kind and helpful host. What a treasure chest of antiques and collectibles. A person could spend hours looking through this charming home. I would highly recommend Bill’s place for your trip to St. John’s.

Great

Solo stay

Excellent central location accessible to all sites in St John’s Very clean property Expedia falsely advertised a 24 hour shuttle which was one of the reasons I booked here and was never endorsed or organized by owner. I recommend use of liquid soap not bar soap in shower re public health recommendations Sharing bathroom amongst all rooms may create difficulties if people have early starts but second shower available in basement. Much better price than large hotels

Fascinating restored b&b! Every room had a history and the gramophones were amazing! If you want to step into the past this is for you! Super conveniently located! Steps from downtown and great restaurants!
